James Carville Wildly Tells Newsmax What It Doesn’t Want To Hear About Trump

James Carville on Tuesday perhaps gave Newsmax viewers what they expected and feared in an interview with host Greta Van Susteren. (Watch the video below.) Appearing in right-wing broadcast territory, the Democratic strategist called President Donald Trump’s administration more corrupt than all the previous administrations combined. Van Susteren, who was a legal analyst on CNN when Carville orchestrated Bill Clinton’s rise to the presidency, invoked Carville’s famous “It’s the economy, stupid” slogan back in the day. She asked if that is what the midterm election is about. Carville was armed and ready. “Well, it is, but it’s a lot about corruption,” Carville answered. “We shouldn’t forget that. In 1992, the one thing you knew about President George H.W. Bush, he was not corrupt. This is far and away — not the most corrupt administration ever — probably more corrupt than all other administrations that came before it put together. So I think the corruption issue is hurting the economic issue. And I think both of them are hurting the Republicans’ chances.” Van Susteren snapped back at what she called Democrats’ “lawfare” against Trump, which included cases against him for alleged election interference, hoarding classified documents, and passing off hush money to Stormy Daniels as a business expense. He was criminally convicted for the latter. Americans in a recent poll might agree with Carville. Nearly two-thirds say Trump has illegally or unethically enriched himself off his presidency, according to the survey. The president reportedly earned $2 billion in income last year and accrued nearly $1.2 billion from crypto ventures. He reportedly took in $148 million from $TRUMP meme coin investors who paid for time with the president at a dinner, but a fraction reportedly got face time with him. Fifth Column cohost Kmele Foster said of the 2025 gala recently, “It’s kinda gross, right?” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
