Yikes: Trump Just Broke This 'Unwanted' Joe Biden Record, Harry Enten Reveals

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten highlighted how President Donald Trump made U.S. history on Wednesday by overseeing the most days ever in a calendar year that gas prices have topped an average of $4 a gallon. “Perhaps one he should not be proud of,” Enten said of the record, citing figures from AAA and GasBuddy. “Not so much congratulations for you.” Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, set the previous record in 2022. “So we are dealing with an absolute backbreaker for Republicans who are running nationwide,” said Enten, who called it “another unwanted record” for the president. Trump is now months into his unpopular war of choice in Iran, a conflict that’s caused gas and diesel prices to soar. “It’s just a crusher,” said the data guru, who cited an aggregate of polls showing how Trump’s net approval rating has dropped from -12 to -22 percentage points since the start of the war. That’s the worst such drop for any president heading into midterm elections, Enten noted. With independents, the president has fallen from a pre-war net approval rating of -32 to -45. “It is a killer for a president who’s trying to hang in there and avoid lame-duck status,” Enten said. “These are the types of numbers that lead to lame-duck status.” He later turned to how Democrats have also fared better in an aggregate of polling on generic U.S. House ballots since the start of the war, jumping from a 5-point advantage over Republicans to what is now a 9-point edge on the GOP. The data guru, much like in other segments this year, noted that, due to redistricting efforts, Democrats would need to win the national vote by a margin of about 4 points to take back the House.
