Mehmet Oz’s Butter Claim Is Too Slippery Even For Laura Ingraham

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, got an awkward on-air fact check from Fox News host Laura Ingraham after lowballing the price of butter. Oz on Monday held up a pack of butter and a bag of peanuts as props as he sought to explain why he believes Americans will benefit from the Trump administration’s new healthcare price transparency rules. “We went grocery shopping, stick of butter, bag of peanuts,” he said, holding up what appeared to be a one-pound package of butter. “Butter in America, it’s about a buck for a stick like this,” he continued. But Ingraham immediately cut in. “Where are you shopping? That’s not a buck, it’s like four,” she pointed out. OZ: We went grocery shopping. Butter in America is about a buck.Ingraham: Where are you shopping? It’s not a buck. pic.twitter.com/OUaJZgEL4P Oz responded: “I just bought this, so it’s close to that. Maybe it’s going bad.” The irony of a top Trump administration health official getting tripped up by Ingraham, a supporter of the president, over the price of a grocery staple, while trying to talk about transparency, was not lost on critics online. It hasn’t been a buck since the 1980s. WTAF? "About a buck". With the word "about" meaning "Well I was talking about a single stick of butter although nobody buys butter by the stick but usually in boxes of 4, and that box is upward of $4". Dr Oz is either an oblivious idiot or a scammer. You decide. He failed to mention that price is for 1 stick, not 1 lb. When Fox News fact checks you and then you look like a fool... Fucking grifters A buck for 1 sliver of butter By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
