Get dinner on the table in less time than it takes to order a pizza.

Writer (and lover) of all things food, from taste tests of your favorite grocery store staples to how-tos on trending recipes.

Yeah, yeah, the basil cashew chicken is the star of the show, but I'm using this recipe to plug one of my favorite dinner-in-a-hurry hacks: frozen rice. Grab a box or two at your favorite grocery store, like TJ's or Aldi, and you won't have to worry about dirtying another pot while you focus on your beautifully stir-fried main.

This one's less of a true 20-minute meal and more of a "how long do you have?" — for the quickest version, keep your toppings simple enough to prep in the 5–10 minutes it takes to sauté the ground beef. Then just warm up some tortillas, and you've got dinner on the table.

I don't think it gets any more vibrant or colorful than these no-cook summer rolls. To make it vegan, swap out the salmon for extra-firm (or super-firm) tofu, or even tempeh.

Your bag of coleslaw was destined for so much more than...well, becoming coleslaw. This 20-minute stovetop dinner is proof of that.

To make it even faster (like, 15 minutes tops), use your favorite store-bought pizza dough.

Don't ever let them tell you a quesadilla can't be dinner — and don't ever trick yourself into thinking a quesadilla can't be dinner, either. This is a full meal! While the smoked Gouda takes this one over the top, feel free to sub in your favorite pre-shredded cheese to save even more time.

Another recipe that can always be dinner? Nachos. Comfort on a sheet pan, and ready in less time than it would take to order takeout.

Kale Sauce Pasta goes down in the 20-minute dinner hall of fame for me. In the time it takes to boil your pasta to a perfect al dente, you'll blend wilted kale, caramelized garlic, and olive oil into the most luscious, veg-forward sauce that clings to each and every noodle.

With a sticky-sweet glaze that's made entirely out of pantry staples like Dijon mustard and maple syrup, it's easy to throw this dish together at a moment's notice. Make sure to line your sheet pan with parchment paper for the fastest cleanup.

When the sauce comes together in exactly the same amount of time it takes for the pasta to cook, that's *chef's kiss*. For extra protein and fiber, you can swap in your favorite protein pasta; I like Brami, but there are so many excellent varieties out there, too.

Six ingredients, 20 minutes. In the words of Miranda Priestly: That's all.

(And I literally mean six ingredients! Not "six ingredients and then everything you have in your pantry.")

Recipe: Gingery Ground Beef (Soboro Donburi)

For less than 20 minutes with practically no cooking required, this meal feels (and tastes) like magic. Mix and match with whatever veggies sound good to you, and definitely use whatever's in season.

Sarah Banh's butadon is about the coziest dish you could ever make in one pot — and with only 20 minutes, to boot.

Recipe: Butadon (Japanese Pork Rice Bowl)

Balanced bites (creamy, crunchy, spicy) and balanced nutritionally (protein, fiber, fats). Serve with a toasty slice of your favorite bread for a dinner that'll make you and your gut feel absolutely fabulous.

Honestly, you hardly need a recipe for this one. Just slice up some boneless skinless chicken thighs, sear, then add soy sauce and brown sugar to make a decadent "teriyaki" sauce — all in one pan.

I am but a simple man; put "honey garlic" in front of anything, and I'll eat it. Though for this delicious dinner, it won't take any convincing.

These Turkish eggs might just be the best-ever "eggs for dinner" variant out there. Sure, it's a lovely breakfast, too, but it's a lovely meal you can make in no time at all after work — and with ingredients you probably already have in your fridge and pantry.

Recipe: Çilbir (Turkish Poached Eggs in Yogurt)

As cooler nights start to roll in, this cozy soup is a weeknight dinner staple in my home. Spoiler alert: You'll never leave the store without a bag (or two) of frozen dumplings ever again.

For a low-stress dinner that's also perfectly fiber-forward, look no further. Sub in your favorite canned beans; I'm partial to butter beans these days for their firm, toothsome texture.

Lettuce wraps on night one, rice bowls for the next day's lunch. For some sweet-salty funk, add a dash or two of fish sauce to your stir-fry mixture.

The key to a chicken skillet dinner that's actually ready in no time? Slicing the breasts horizontally into thin cutlets. They'll cook in half the time (no oven required) and stay perfectly moist and juicy in this succulent mushroom sauce.

Stir-fries are totally the MVP of 20-minute meals, and endlessly customizable with whatever you've got in your fridge and pantry. Got the broccoli blues? Try asparagus, snap peas, or even thinly-sliced cabbage.

There's nothing like shredding cabbage yourself until it's razor thin, but if you're crunched for time, a bag of your favorite store-bought slaw mix will totally suffice.

Need something nourishing as fast as humanly possible? It's fried rice. It's always fried rice. For extra protein, add in whatever quick-cooking protein you'd like; some tofu or shrimp cook up in a flash, but I'm also newly obsessed with the pre-cooked sous vide chicken thighs from Trader Joe's.

20 minutes and one pot is all you need. Leftovers will thicken in the fridge, so make sure you stir in a generous splash or broth or water before reheating.

Made with cottage cheese, this protein-packed homemade ranch truly makes this pizza-inspired wrap legendary. Need even more speed? Sub in your favorite ranch salad kit. (RIP to the Trader Joe's pizza ranch salad kit. I miss you every day.)

It's delicious as-is, but you can spice things up with whatever protein you'd like; rotisserie chicken, anyone? (Hint, hint: Make a double batch of the sesame dressing, which you'll want to drizzle over everything.)Recipe: Sesame Soba Noodles

We've got protein, we've got fiber, and we've got loads of bright, zingy pesto. What more could you ask for?

I love a rip-and-dip dinner; served with warm pita or a crusty baguette, it's casual, filling, and the perfect weeknight vegetarian meal.

Let's hear it for canned chickpeas. What other food could go from can to delicious dinner in just 20 minutes? (Other legumes, I guess, but chickpeas — you're still my #1.)

Recipe: Chickpea Curry with Spinach and Rice

It may not be fancy, but this ground turkey and zucchini skillet is one of my go-to dishes when I want a 15-minute meal that's super fresh and light. Thanks to its high water content, the zucchini cooks down super fast, which makes it the MVP of quick-cooking veggies in my book.

Crisp and quick-cooking bok choy makes the perfect complement to this peppery stir-fried tofu, and the slightly sweet black pepper sauce that coats it all marries everything together in perfect harmony.
