Christy claimed that her reps advised her to get a rhinoplasty to increase her chances of booking better roles, but she refused! As a staff writer at BuzzFeed, I write about all things celeb, pop culture, and books. Warning: This post mentions eating disorders, alcohol addiction, and sexual assault. In 2019, Shia wrote and starred in Honey Boy, a semi-autobiographical movie about a child actor with an abusive father. However, in 2022, he told the podcast Real Ones that the father character, James, wasn't based on his real dad. He said, "Here's a man who I've done vilified on a grand scale. I wrote this narrative, which was just fucking nonsense. My dad was so loving to me my whole life. Fractured, sure. Crooked, sure. Wonky, for sure. But never was not loving, never was not there. He was always there…and I'd done a world press tour about how fucked he was as a man. ... [The movie was a] big 'woe is me' story about how fucked my father is, and I wronged him." He also said he lied to his dad about what he was putting in the script. He continued, "I turned the knob up on certain shit that wasn't real. My dad never hit me, never."
