Iβm the Editorial Director at BuzzFeed β where Iβve reported on TV, film, and lifestyle trends (travel, fitness, and food) since 2013 β and I also post about the latest in pop culture news to my 850k+ followers on TikTok. Also, there are ~no~ major spoilers in this article, so you don't need to worry about anything in the movie getting ruined for you if you haven't seen it yet. (Though what are you waiting for???) Oppenheim was intrigued by the dichotomy of Chris Hansen the journalist vs. Chris Hansen the meme, saying, "It crystallized this thought for me of just, What does it mean to balance those two things: the reportage of an extremely serious subject with also becoming and adopting this almost entertaining version of yourself? This persona of yourself?" That's when he knew he needed to work on this project. Above is a photo of Jonathan Lipnicki in Jerry Maguire, which was released just after his 6th birthday. Funnily enough, Robert Pattinson recently compared the TV show To Catch a Predator to Jerry Maguire, saying, "It was, like, very high velocity. It's kind of like Scarface meets Jerry Maguire." This gum was actually part of a larger backstory to Wever's character. She said that Andie was probably someone who was trying to "be a better person and quit smoking," saying, "The Nicorette gum that she was chewing was to help her keep on the straight and narrow, but in the same way other characters made compromises and strayed, at one point there was an idea that by the end of the movie, she makes a specific choice to not make a change and goes back to being a smoker." If you're curious about the specifics, Bolen worked with Alex DiGerlando, the production designer, to get the shot just right: "He built a mini LED tunnel on a rotating gimbal that had spinning lights. We were able to push the colonoscopy camera all the way through the tunnel and land on our actorβs face."
