President Donald Trump went after Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) late Saturday, describing her as “Republicans’ Worst Senator, by far” on his Truth Social platform after she slammed the Justice Department’s lawsuit over the U.S. Senate race in her state.

Trump — who opposed Murkowski in the 2022 election only for her to beat his preferred candidate in a runoff decided by ranked-choice voting — claimed that Murkowski only won as a result of the “corrupt” system, arguing that the system is a “TOTAL DEMOCRAT SCAM” intended to confuse voters.

In terms of the U.S. Senate race, the lawsuit — which Trump admitted he ordered his DOJ to file — argues that the presence of a man with the same name as Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) on the ballot could impact the outcome of the election and, thus, lead to a win by Democratic nominee Mary Peltola.

Murkowski — one of just seven GOP senators who voted to convict the president at his 2021 impeachment trial — took to social media on Friday to declare that the DOJ should “never” have filed the lawsuit, writing that Alaskans “don’t need any help voting for their preferred candidates” and the state Supreme Court already weighed in on the matter.

Trump wasn’t having it, baselessly accusing the senator of wanting Democrats to “steal the Election.”

“Lisa Murkowski is a DISGRACE to Alaska and our Country. You just don’t get any worse! I hope the Great People of Alaska understand what is happening. The Democrats are trying to steal this important Republican Seat and, if that happens, everything we’ve done for Alaska will come to an immediate hault,” he wrote before urging Alaskans to vote against the ranked-choice voting system.

A string of recent polls show Peltola holding onto a narrow lead over her Republican opponent in both the first and final rounds of ranked-choice voting, both of which do not see Dan J. Sullivan — a retired teacher also running as a Republican — making it to the final round.

The retired teacher responded to Trump’s claims that he’s a “fake” candidate in a HuffPost interview earlier this month, noting that he’s addressed his intentions about joining the race in a number of interviews and the president has “made up” his voting record.
