The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders filed a temporary restraining order against My Chemical Romance after the band featured backup dancers in look-alike DCC uniforms touting guns onstage. On Wednesday, My Chemical Romance performed at the Hollywood Bowl, and their backup dancers wore very similar DCC uniforms and carried fake rifles. The dancers engaged in a fake shoot-out “only to be depicted being shot,” the filing says, according to NBC News. “Audience members and online commentators understandably believed that the performers were the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and said so in social media posts that continue to circulate,” Pro Silver Star, DCC’s parent company, wrote. The filing continued, writing: “Audience members and online commentators understandably believed that the performers were the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and said so in social media posts that continue to circulate.” Reps for My Chemical Romance did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders have long been protective over their brand and image. In the ’70s, they took legal action after the pornographic film “Debbie Does Dallas” featured a woman wearing a look-alike DCC uniform. “It cost the Cowboys a million dollars to prove to them that the girls on the squad named Debbie were not the ‘Debbie Does Dallas’ in the movie,” former DCC director Suzanne Mitchell said in the 2018 documentary, “Daughters of the Sexual Revolution.” “We had to protect what was ours.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
