Screen icon Robert De Niro called the act of voting a “superpower,” but warned that President Donald Trump and his “thugs” are working to take it away.

“I’ve got a message for them,” he said in a new video for Hands Off Our Vote. “No fucking way!”

He urged Americans to take one simple action to dodge right-wing attempts to disenfranchise Americans.

“Vote early,” the two-time Oscar winner advised. “And then, no matter what they pull on Election Day, your vote will already be banked.”

De Niro also summarized what’s on the ballot in November’s midterm election.

“If you want to elect politicians to prop up a would-be king who gets us into a disastrous war and corruptly profits from it, you can find him,” he said. “Or if you prefer candidates who won’t cut your healthcare and won’t protect pedophiles, there are great choices there, too. You get to decide.”

De Niro, 83, is a longtime critic of Trump and earlier this year called the president an “existential threat to our freedoms and security.”

He’s struck a nerve, as Trump has frequently lashed out at the actor, calling him “a sick and demented person” and “pathetic and sad.”
