Lara Trump Desperately Spins President’s Polling Numbers On Fox News

Lara Trump gave a family-friendly take on President Donald Trump’s declining popularity among rural and Latino voters ahead of the midterms. “I think the establishment in the polling industry overall really doesn’t understand the connection that Donald Trump has with voters,” the Fox News host told anchor John Roberts on Tuesday. The president’s daughter-in-law, a former Republican National Committee co-chair, heard rough numbers from Roberts about a survey from their own network. On the rural side, he noted, “63% went for your father-in-law in 2024. That number now supporting the GOP is down to 49%. That’s a change of 14 points to the negative.” He added, “And then there seems to be problems with Hispanic voters as well. 43% supported Donald Trump in 2024; the support for the GOP is now down to 31%. That is a minus 12-point change. What do you think is going on? Is that being driven by policy, or is it being driven by the fact that, even though he’s out on the stump literally every day, he’s not on the ballot?” Lara Trump replied, “Well, he says to vote like he’s on the ballot, so I’ll remind everyone of that for sure. But there have been recent reports that show that there are a lot of these rural and Republican voters who just do not overall trust the polling industry. A lot of them are not even answering pollsters anymore because they really think that the system is totally broken. So I don’t know that those numbers are totally accurate.” She continued to question polls, citing election years that Trump won. “Look, we know what the polls have said, and what they said in 2016, what they said in 2024,” she said. “And we know what they’re saying right now. But ultimately, the people who come and turn out in this election will make the difference. I think that the problem that the polling industry has, of course, we know that polls likely sway people either to turn out or dissuade them from turning out. “But I think the establishment in the polling industry overall really doesn’t understand the connection that Donald Trump has with voters. And they have never tried to understand him. So they’re really not trying to understand those voters. I think they’re missing the mark oftentimes. And I think on November 4th, I think you may see a huge disparity between what those polls have shown us all the way up to Election Day... and what actually ultimately happens.” Trump’s overall approval ratings have at times sunk to record lows as the midterms approach ― which doesn’t augur well for the Republicans given his plea to imagine that he’s on the ballot. Democrats have a good chance of taking both the House and Senate, jumping on Trump’s unpopular war against Iran and high prices.
