MS NOW’s Rachel Maddow on Monday accused Donald Trump’s White House of “hiding the ball” as she highlighted a series of controversial moves that have been delayed until after the 2026 midterm elections.

“See if you can spot the pattern here,” Maddow began a segment that was titled online, “Trump sets bad policy time bomb for after midterms.”

She flagged reports that White House officials have ordered the Department of Justice to delay further criminalization of abortion, that Trump has postponed another attack on Iran, and that the administration is holding off on a new rule threatening Americans’ access to cheaper Canadian medications.

Maddow also pointed to the Pentagon withholding a report on the Iran school strike and the Treasury Department delaying plans to use private debt collectors for student loans.

All the moves, she noted, have been pushed beyond the midterms amid GOP fears they could lose both the House and the Senate amid Donald Trump’s record-low approval ratings.

“They are looking forward to doing all of this stuff to you, but they know it is not exactly popular,” she said. “So, the plan here, the pattern you are seeing emerge, is that they’re just delaying all of it. They are hiding the ball.”

“They’re hoping people don’t think about this stuff or maybe don’t even know about this stuff when they are deciding who to vote for in these elections or whether they will vote at all,” she added.
