A beloved Democratic strategist is apparently losing his shine.

James Carville angered many left-leaning social media users when he admitted on the “Bulwark on Sunday” podcast that he’d prefer Republicans keep control of the House rather than Democrats winning the chamber by five seats.

“I would rather the Republicans keep the House by five than the Democrats win by five, because if that happens, they’re hostage to the DSA,” Carville said. “Like [House Minority Leader] Hakeem [Jeffries] cannot move. There’s no place for him to go. And even if you have a close Senate, [Sen. John] Fetterman would keep [Chuck] Schumer [on] Pepto-Bismol all night.”

Carville also said a big Democratic win would be a “nightmare.”

For months, Carville has campaigned fervently against democratic socialists and other figures, such as Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, whom he views as too left-leaning.

In June, Carville called democratic socialists “fucking stupid” for their frustrations with moderate Democrats whom the movement views as being politically impotent. And in August, Carville demanded that the Democratic Socialists of America drop “democrat” from their “goddamn name,” saying they weren’t aligned with the broader Democratic Party.

Carville’s become so vocal on the topic that even Fox News host Laura Ingraham invited him to become a Republican in “our effort to turn the GOP into a party that is rebuilding the American middle class.”

Carville’s latest remarks about the midterm elections seemed to be the last straw for many left-leaning X users — with one user saying, “Go away, dude.”
