"I TOLD HIM HE WAS SCREWING HIMSELF": Divorce Lawyers Are Sharing The Clients Who Were Literally So EVIL, They Lowkey Hoped They Would Lose Their Cases

“He was able to get the surgery using his wife’s donated organ. After the transplant... he divorced her for a younger woman.” "I was in tears when I walked into my lawyer's office and told her this while feeling completely helpless. At this point, she cackled (literally) and told me to let him. Turns out the two years he spent pushing papers around the table meant that in less than two months, we would have been married for 10 years, which meant that I was entitled to half of his pension. She declared that we were done with negotiations and scheduled a formal court date for a week after our 10-year anniversary. Not only did she ensure that I'd get far more than anything I was originally offered, but she also got the judge to order him to pay all of my legal fees. The look on his face when he found out about the pension and realized he did it to himself was priceless." "He probably doesn’t have much time left, but the ex-wife has threatened their children, saying that everything he has must go to her when he goes. He’s so out of it now, and he doesn’t even remember the agreement. The children are stuck managing his finances now and have to pay their mother every month, even though they don’t speak to her anymore. She doesn’t even want to see her grandchildren. The whole situation is unbelievable." "Then, he decided that the court wouldn't be allowed to pass any judgments in the case if he wasn't present. So he just stopped attending any of the hearings. This worked the first two times, but after rescheduling twice, the court lost patience and just ruled in her favor on every item because he wasn't there to contest anything." "When the judge learned of this, she sentenced him to a year in jail with a hefty fine, and said she was referring his lawyers to the bar association. The lawyers had a sidebar in which the judge said she’d drop the sentence and referral if they settled the case in three days. My friend got everything she wanted in terms of money and property, and a three-hour meeting alone with the stepdaughter. The ex begged her to back up his lies that she did not want to see the girl, but she said that if he did not come clean to his daughter, there would be no settlement. So he did, and she still sees the daughter (now in her 30s) regularly and went to her wedding." "On the day of court, I finally relented and said he could have it. When we went before the judge, he asked if anything was contested, and I just looked at the floor and said no. He said, 'You agree to him having everything?' I said, 'Well, there is this blanket…' My ex lost it, the judge was incredulous, and I have a divorce decree that lists the blanket as the 'asset' I got to keep! In the end, I threw the blanket away a few months later." Note: Responses have been edited for length/clarity.
