Social media critics ripped Vice President JD Vance for the size of the crowd attending his rally on Thursday in support of Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers.

Unlike President Donald Trump, who often hosts rallies in arenas, Vance held his event at the LevelUp Training Complex, an indoor sports training facility in Monroe, Mich. A photo from the event, posted by Detroit News reporter Craig Mauger, showed folding chairs, bleachers and the makeshift stage erected on what appeared to be artificial turf.

Commenters not only mocked the size of the crowd, but also the apparent average age of attendees.

“No wonder it’s a 3 pm event. This crowd has a sharp 7 pm bedtime,” one commenter wrote on X.

“’Defend Our Future’, says a room full of senior citizens,” another wrote.

Vance, who spoke for less than 30 minutes, attacked Rogers’ opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, and delivered the GOP’s closing message ahead of the midterm elections.

“You deserve better than a little weasel who should shut his mouth and show a little gratitude to the country that gave him everything,” Vance said, referring to El-Sayed.

The Democratic candidate responded to the vice president’s comments during his own rally in the Upper Peninsula on Thursday, saying, “JD Vance called me a little weasel today. I’m like, no, no, no. What you’re talking about is a fucking wolverine.”
