Carl Higbie, an anchor on right-wing Newsmax, this week issued a full-throated and graphic defense of livestreaming the firing-squad execution of the Fort Hood shooter, ex-Army Maj. Nidal Hasan.

“Livestream it,” demanded Higbie, a retired Navy SEAL who served as a surrogate for Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, joined the first Trump administration and later quit following the resurfacing of highly offensive remarks he had made, including about Muslims, on radio segments.

“I don’t care if my tax dollars go to advertising it and playing it during the next Super Bowl,” Higbie said, ending a provocative segment.

Higbie earlier expressed hope that the executioners would “dip their bullets in bacon before they shoot him.”

“I don’t care about dignity or honor or anything else in the mechanism to kill this man. I want this guy dead,” he continued. “I don’t care if it’s by an A-10 gunship, an AC-130, fast movers dropping GBU-85s or 84s on this guy. I don’t care if it’s a platoon. I don’t care if they beat him to death. I certainly don’t care that he is in a wheelchair. Zero sympathy because he killed my brothers and sisters.”

“People worried about him being a martyr?” Higbie acknowledged. “He’d be a martyr if we don’t kill him. I will send him to hell in the most disrespectful way possible, and then I will turn around and look at any other person who even thinks about doing what he did or any remnants of that and remind them that they have no path to the afterlife because we’ll do the same thing.”

Higbie’s comments came amid mounting opposition to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s proposed livestream of the Dec. 3 execution of Hasan, who killed 13 people in the 2009 shooting at the Texas military base.

Donald Trump initially said he “absolutely” approved of livestreaming the execution but indicated the final decision would be his. CBS News reported Tuesday that White House officials are now “leaning against” the idea.
