The ‘Patient Zero’ Taylor Swift Theories Were Right

Taylor Swift debuted the music video for “Patient Zero” at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday and the crowd ― and internet ― went wild. Swift presented the video, which she also directed, while receiving MTV’s inaugural Artist Director Honors. The 36-year-old has already won the award for Best Director four times. Actor Dakota Johnson, who stars in the “50 Shades of Grey”-like video alongside Swift and Colin Farrell, presented Swift with the honor. (Watch the video here.) Johnson also spoke about appearing in “Patient Zero” with Swift in an interview last week. “Working with your friends is like the most fun thing on the planet because we’ve known each other for so long, we respect each other’s creative minds, and to be able to work alongside her and support and assist and be a person whom she tells what to do is wonderful,” Johnson said Thursday during the red carpet premiere of her new film, “Verity.” “Patient Zero” is one of four songs on “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” which the singer released Friday. The expanded deluxe edition of Swift’s 12th album also includes the songs “Pink Clouding” (rumored to be about ex Tom Hiddleston), “Babylon” and “Cleveland!” (inspired by Swift’s husband, NFL star Travis Kelce).
