Senate Republicans are getting called out for hypocrisy over a tweet attacking democratic socialists.

But as many were quick to point out, the message seemed to apply more to President Donald Trump than anyone on the left.

The Senate Republicans account, overseen by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), posted on X: “Democrat socialists love to promise free stuff. But they never mention who pays for it.”

In reality, Trump has repeatedly promised “free stuff” such as tariff rebates, stimulus checks from the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, and a $5,000 “dividend” if the GOP wins the midterm elections.

Trump has also never delivered on any of those “free stuff” promises.

That led to a blunt note added to the message, complete with links to back it up.

“President Donald Trump has proposed several direct cash payouts and rebates funded by tariffs or budget cuts. None were provided.”

Others quickly joined in the pile-on, giving Cotton and his fellow Republicans a reminder of just who keeps promising all that free stuff:
