Brooke Hogan is recalling how her relationship with her late dad, Hulk Hogan, became “increasingly complicated” after the pro wrestler slept with one of her closest friends.

Hogan, 38, told Us Weekly on Thursday that the bond with her father hit a “major turning point” after she discovered he had sex with her friend, Christiane Plante.

“I forgive people very easily — sometimes probably too easily — and I forgave him, but something between us changed afterward,” she said. “I don’t think he ever related to me in quite the same way again.”

Plante confirmed her involvement with Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, in a 2008 interview with the National Inquirer. She told the tabloid that her relationship with the WWE champion occurred after his wife, Linda Marie Claridge, had already “left him.”

Hogan claimed he was “shocked” after learning his wife wanted to divorce him, Today reports. Claridge, who married Hogan in 1983, filed for divorce in 2007. Their divorce was later finalized in 2009.

Brooke Hogan told Us Weekly that after her parents’ marriage ended, “our entire family structure changed.”

“Over time, things became increasingly complicated until eventually the relationship I had always believed could survive anything couldn’t survive what was happening around us anymore,” she shared. “That’s probably the biggest thing I wish people understood about the Hogan family: Public perception reduces families into heroes and villains.”

Brooke Hogan added, “Real families aren’t that simple.”

She also opened up about the duality of her family’s “tremendous love” and “dysfunction.”

“Fear, resentment, enormous betrayal, money, fame, image management and decades of unresolved hurt” all existed “underneath the same roof” within her family, she claimed, adding, “I can love my father profoundly and still tell the truth about where he hurt me. I can acknowledge the wonderful things my family gave me while also acknowledging that eventually the dynamic became something I could no longer live inside. Both things can be true.”

Brooke Hogan said her father, who died at 71 from a heart attack on July 24, 2025, still was “an excellent father to me for a very long time.”

“The foundation between my dad and me was incredibly strong,” she said. “It survived public scandals, private pain, divorce, enormous changes in our family and periods of estrangement because underneath all of it there was a bond that was very real.”
