Donald Trump is trying to do a “Lake America” type of name change to artificial intelligence, but the social media reaction suggests lots of people think it’s a dumb idea.

On Monday, the president asked his Truth Social followers whether to rename AI as “SUPER INTELLIGENCE” or “SUPERIOR INTELLIGENCE.”

One day later, he announced in a United Nations General Assembly speech that, going forward, U.S. government documents would refer to the technology as “super intelligence.”

Trump added that “hopefully the words will be changed to use the much more accurate term ‘super’ as opposed to artificial,” and insisted he’s “not going to stifle growth of something that will be bigger than the industrial revolution.”

Although Trump seemed convinced the name change was a super-intelligent idea, the online mockery it received suggested he’s in the minority.
