This article contains spoilers from Season 4 finale of “Reacher.” “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson claims that a white supremacist storyline for the Amazon Prime show was nixed after “someone got re-elected.” The actor, 43, didn’t specifically name President Donald Trump, but Ritchson, who has publicly criticized the president, appeared to be referencing Trump’s 2024 win. Ritchson made the claim Friday while replying to a fan on Threads who wrote that “every year I’m sad to learn that next season won’t be the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp.” “Die Trying,” the second novel in the “Jack Reacher” series by British author Lee Child involves a white supremacist militia group getting exposed and defeated after Jack Reacher launched an FBI raid against them. Ritchson replied to the fan in the comments section of the post, telling them that the 1998 novel is his “favorite book.” “Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” Ritchson added. Ritchson didn’t reveal which “Reacher” season was approved to be based on “Die Trying.” In May, Prime Video renewed the action series for a fifth season ahead of its Season 4 premiere. Season 5 will adapt Child’s 20th novel, “Make Me.” HuffPost reached out to Amazon Prime for comment. Ritchson’s exchange with the Threads user came after the final episode of Season 4 of “Reacher” aired on Prime Video Wednesday, in which faux mother-daughter duo Lila Hoth (played by Agnez Mo) and Amisha Hoth (played by Anggun) were revealed to be undercover Indonesian assassins. Ritchson, who has spoken openly about his Christian faith, flat out slammed the Christian church for treating Trump like their “poster child” in an April 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s unreal. I don’t understand it,” he added. “Trump is a rapist and a con man.” Ritchson also appeared to criticize Trump over his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files in a rant on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast in July. “Don’t you want to see what’s in [the files] so that we can hold people accountable?” he asked host Josh Horowitz. “These fucking rapists. We’re just cool with it? That bitch has the keys to the nuclear [codes].” Without naming the president, Ritchson referenced how Trump was mentioned thousands of times in the 3 million Epstein documents released by the Justice Department in January. “He’s like all up into 13-year-olds. Like dude, what? Go to jail,” he said. Days after Ritchson’s interview on the podcast, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle blasted the actor as a “talentless hack” that has “completely rotted his peanut-sized brain” while speaking with the Daily Beast in July. Ingle also accused Ritchson of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
