Robin Williams' Daughter Begs Online Trolls: 'Leave Him Out Of Your Delusional Bulls**t'

Zelda Williams on Monday scolded supposed fans of her late father Robin Williams for creating artificial intelligence-generated videos of him, asking one year after begging these online trolls to stop to “let him rest” — and “leave him out of this delusional bullshit.” The “Lisa Frankenstein” director explained on X that she has been shown a supposedly “private video” of her beloved father discussing various conspiracy theories, but that it was created with “not even particularly convincing” AI. “Anyone who claims to be a fan who believes it clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible,” wrote Zelda Williams. “That said, a human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional bullshit and let him rest.” Robin Williams was one of the most acclaimed talents of his generation, successfully making the leap from television’s “Mork & Mindy” (1978-1982) to a leading man in iconic films such as “Dead Poets Society” (1989), “Mrs. Doubtfire” (1993) and “Good Will Hunting” (1997). The actor died by suicide in 2014 at age 63 after struggling with his mental health. Robin Williams was posthumously diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, which can cause depression, anxiety and hallucinations and impact sleep, behavior and bodily autonomy, per the Mayo Clinic. There is no known cure for the disease or treatment to stop its progression. Zelda Williams appeared to suggest Monday that not even artificial intelligence can convincingly mimic her father’s wit, charm or distinct rapid-fire delivery, and has begged fans and trolls before to stop creating and sharing augmented material of him online. “I hate this cesspool of an app,” she wrote Monday on X. “It’s mostly bots and people willingly being duped by bots at this point so not sure why I feel the need to come back to clarify, but I love him, so I will. Just because he’s gone does not mean he’s now your puppet.” Zelda Williams left off ordering those in question: “Have some shame.” If you or someone you know needs help, call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org for mental health support.
