Longtime Republican strategist and Fox News personality Karl Rove drew big laughs on Friday when he mocked President Donald Trump by doing a fairly solid impression of him.

During an appearance at The Atlantic Festival 2026, the magazine’s Vivian Salama asked Rove about Trump calling him a “stone cold loser” during a social media rant last week.

“So, so terrible,” Rove said, doing his impression of the president, complete with hand gestures. “Stone cold loser. Total, total loser. He’s a total loser. Nobody’s ever seen anything like this. They say, ‘Sir, total stone cold loser.’”

“That was very impressive,” Salama said as the audience laughed and cheered.

Rove, who was a longtime adviser to former President George W. Bush, last week announced he will vote for Democratic candidate Jon Rosenthal for the Texas Railroad Commission due to “bigoted” comments by Republican candidate Bo French.

It’s just the second time in his life he is voting for a Democrat, he said.

“The GOP has a growing number of Bo Frenches—and not only in Texas,” Rove wrote in a Wall Street Journal column tearing into the “Jew-haters, misogynists who worship hypermasculinity, conspiracy nuts seeking clicks for profit, and religious bigots” in the party.

“My party is infiltrated by these people,” he said at The Atlantic Festival as he explained his decision.
