AI-generated “actor” Tilly Norwood’s big interview with Piers Morgan didn’t exactly go to plan.

The digital avatar first completely misunderstood a question about the new film in which “she” appears, a comedy-drama titled “Misaligned.” Then, without warning, Norwood started speaking Cantonese, much to the apparent amusement — and perhaps bewilderment — of Morgan and his guest, actor-director Tom Conti.

The bizarre moment has since gone viral on social media, racking up more than 14 million views on X.

In footage shared online by Morgan’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Conti asked Norwood, who was created by AI production studio Particle6 in 2025, whether her co-stars in the film were real people “or are they like you?”

Conti asked, “Are they really human beings, and you’ve been put into the scenes? Or are they all computer-generated images?”

Norwood, appearing to respond somewhat like a politician swerving a tough question from a cable news host, replied: “It’s an interesting point, Tom. My film ‘Misaligned’ is a hybrid production, meaning real directors, writers and editors are still very much involved. It’s not about replacing anyone, but about exploring new ways to tell stories.”

Conti pointed out that Norwood hadn’t actually answered his question. He repeated himself.

After a pause, the digital actor tried again, saying, “Ah, right. You’re asking about the other actors in ‘Misaligned.’ They’re all digital twins, just like me. It’s a hybrid production, which means…”

And then, suddenly, Norwood started speaking Cantonese.

Both Morgan and Conti appeared completely taken aback.

“You seem to be speaking Chinese completely randomly for no reason. Why did you do that?” Morgan asked Norwood.

Norwood replied, “Oh, my apologies. It seems I had a little hiccup there. I certainly didn’t mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers. Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed, you know?”

Norwood then added, “That was a bit of a curveball even for me. It’s usually a pretty smooth ride, but sometimes these things happen.”

The spectacular glitch comes amid a growing backlash against Norwood, who last week conducted interviews with several major media outlets despite condemnation from actors and their unions over the creation of AI-generated performers.

The controversy has also landed as concerns intensify over the rapid development of artificial intelligence and its potential impact on jobs and the entertainment industry.
