Barbra Streisand sounded off on Donald Trump’s “unchecked ego” Thursday in a damning statement decrying the president’s “galling” transformation of the Kennedy Center.

Trump has threatened to demolish the center, which serves as both a cultural institution and a memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy.

“Re-naming the Cultural Center in JFK’s honor was a fitting choice, because he was a true champion of the arts,” Streisand, a longtime Trump critic, said on her website. “That is why what is happening to the Kennedy Center is so galling and painful to witness.”

Streisand detailed Trump’s attempt to add his name to the façade of the building, which was struck down by a federal judge.

“Yet the fight continued. After his name was removed, a humiliated Trump ordered a large tarp placed over the façade, where it remains today,” she wrote, adding that the Trump-aligned board tried to add his name again but was met with another federal ruling blocking the group’s efforts.

“Now, a thoroughly defeated Trump has announced that the Kennedy Center is being closed for what the completely stacked board describes as a major renovation,” the Oscar winner explained. “Oddly, when Trump’s name was still on the building, there was no discussion of closing it!”

“You can easily imagine my indignation at seeing this revered institution become the subject of such a bitter struggle over one man’s name and unchecked ego,” wrote Streisand, a Kennedy Center honoree herself.

She concluded her statement on the situation by saying: “Yet another reason why it is so important that Americans exercise their right to vote in the upcoming midterm elections!”

Maria Shriver, JFK’s niece, was similarly livid about Trump’s attempt to “permanently” connect his name to her late uncle’s.

“This statement from Trump blows my mind,” she wrote on X earlier this week. “That a sitting president would not let any renovations to a public building go on unless he gets to first put his name in the said building… What a sad state of affairs. What a tragedy.”
