CNN’s Kasie Hunt on Wednesday hit Donald Trump with a montage of his past promises to lower inflation, after the Federal Reserve hiked interest rates in stark opposition to the president’s demands.

“The thing that the president ran on, the thing he said he was going to do, he hasn’t done,” said Hunt, whose supercut on her show “The Arena” featured just some of the times Trump “claimed, promised everyone, all of you watching, everyone in America, that he was going to lower inflation” during the 2024 campaign.

In the video, Trump boasted at various rallies that he would “end the devastating inflation crisis immediately, bring down interest rates and lower the cost of energy,” “make America affordable again” and “defeat inflation quickly.”

It ended with footage of Trump vowing that “energy prices will be cut in half within 12 months” if he returned to office.

Hunt zeroed in on Trump’s “explicit promise” that “your energy costs will be cut in half within 12 months,” contrasting it with diesel prices being “the highest ever” right now, which has prompted Trump to demand Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stop strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure in a bid to increase supply and lower the costs.
