Comic Ron White lashed out at Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, in an unfiltered appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast posted on Wednesday.

“He’s a criminal,” White said. “Just a piece of shit.”

White, who shot to fame as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour in the early 2000s, pointed out that Paxton’s own staff reported him to the FBI on a number of issues. Paxton responded by firing or pushing out the whistleblowers, which led to a $6.6 million taxpayer-funded settlement.

That was too much even for many of his fellow Republicans in the state.

“His own party impeached him,” White pointed out, adding that the Senate ultimately acquitted Paxton, who later defeated Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in a primary runoff election.

Paxton has faced a string of other scandals, including an indictment on three felony counts in a fraud case that was resolved via pretrial agreement, arranging a controversial plea deal in a child sex abuse case, and even an accusation that he once stole a fancy pen.

Now, most polls show Paxton trailing Democratic candidate James Talarico. He has led in only one poll over the last three months.

“I don’t know enough about him,” Rogan said. “But I do know that they’re surprised that Talarico’s ahead of him in the polls.”

“I’m not,” White said. “I think that people are sick of what’s going on right now in Texas. They’ve been in control for 30 years. What have they given us? Let somebody else fucking drive.”
