President Donald Trump said he abstained from golf for 120 days leading up to the 2024 election, adding to a virtual trophy case of falsehoods about the game he adores.

In an interview with Fox News host Trey Gowdy that aired Sunday, Trump said, “I didn’t play golf. I didn’t do anything for 120 days, and I worked.”

The so-called “Commander in Cheat” of golf seems to be about 70 days short of his claim.

In a fateful outing on Sept. 15, 2024, Trump was on the fifth hole of a round at Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach when Secret Service agents spotted the would-be assassin Ryan Routh, who was later apprehended, according to The New York Times. (He was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year.)

Such a traumatic day ― the second assassination attempt against him in a matter of months ― would be hard to forget or fudge about.

Trump was touting his work ethic on the campaign trail during his Fox News interview, but his cessation of golf activity back then was also understandably due to security concerns before Election Day, a report said.

But 120 days? Not by a long shot.

Trump and truth have often been suspected strangers on the golf course.

But it’s no lie his golf habit is landing taxpayers in the rough.

According to didtrumpgolftoday.com, he has played golf 125 out of 589 days since starting his second term, costing taxpayers $175 million.
