Thousands of fans helped Canadian band Blue Rodeo mock President Donald Trump along the shore of Lake Ontario on Saturday.

It would have been difficult to ignore the setting at the RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto, given Trump’s efforts to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” amid a trade war of his making with Canada. He upped the stakes by issuing an executive order for the rebrand.

When it came time for Blue Rodeo to play its 1993 hit “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet,” singer Greg Keelor reminded spectators of a lyric that goes, “out in the middle of Lake Ontario.”

“At the end of this song, there’s a mention of a lake,” he said to cheers. “And it’s a lake right behind us, right there. And I guess it’s become a little controversial, the name of this lake. So I would just like you to sing tonight with full authority and ownership. And we’ll sing this one for the shining waters that have been here long before any of us were ever here.”

When the moment came, legions became a chorus in front of an onscreen map properly calling the body of water “Lake Ontario.”

“That was some good singing, folks. You’re good Canadians,” Keelor said. “God bless ya, and we love you for it. Good night.”

Bandmate Jim Cuddy added, per the Independent: “That was chilling, folks. We are who we are, right? Fuck them.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has attempted to pour cold water on Trump’s geographical revisionism. “This lake is called Lake Ontario – today and forever,” he said.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford issued his own reminder with a sign posted on the lake’s shoreline that reads: “Lake Ontario Now And Always.”
