15 Whole Foods Prepared Items I Always Grab When I'm Too Busy To Cook

I rarely finish a grocery run without a few of these in my shopping bag. I'm a writer based in Brooklyn that covers restaurant and recipe trends for Tasty. Sweet and spicy, they're a game day essential that are a step above your average freezer-aisle alternative. I like to easily reheat mine in an air fryer and plate them with chopped veggies. The more Blue Cheese dip, the better. I love the flaky crust on the empanadas at Whole Foods. While they have several different flavor options, I'm completely obsessed with the Chipotle Chicken flavor. They're smoky and tangy, an easy hand-held bite when you're headed out the door. The Sonoma Chicken Salad is an iconic and essential Whole Foods prepared food. You know her, you love her. Great on a cracker, even better as a melt. She's always coming home with me, no questions asked. I often forget that Whole Foods has a strong variety of prepared salads that are a great lunch option for the 9-to-5 crowd. This plant-based Mezze Crunch Salad boasts crispy tofu and salty dolma. It's a solid solution to my mid-week lunch slump. With Whole Foods handling your workday lunch, they've also got those busy weeknight dinners covered with large family-sized salad options. I love the Field Greens and Goat Cheese salad, with walnuts, chevre, and cranberries, paired with a moist rotisserie chicken.ย As far as grocery-store sushi goes, Whole Foods' is pretty delicious. It's a bit higher in price point compared to other grocery chains, but I think it reflects in the freshness of ingredients. I love the Shrimp Tempura Roll, with plenty of eel sauce and spicy mayo. Most mornings, I struggle with how to feed myself when I have 20 minutes to get out the door, and my eyes are still half-crusted shut. The Egg and Cheese Breakfast Wrap is easy to reheat and a quick on-the-go breakfast for busy weekday mornings. Of all the hummus brands I've tried, none come close to the Whole Foods brand. It doesn't feel overprocessed, and compared side by side with my own homemade hummus, I'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference. I was really surprised by how flavorful the Whole Foods queso was the first time I tried it! It's perfectly spicy and simple to reheat right in its container. The perfect late-night snack, in my book. I was practically raised on frozen chicken pot pies with two busy parents and weeknights full of extracurricular activities. The Whole Foods pie bakes quickly and is full of flavor. I especially love it on those cold weather nights around the holidays! One of my favorite best-kept grocery store secrets is that you can get chilled rotisserie chickens in the prepared foods aisle, often for cheaper than the ones hanging out under the warmers. They're great for shredding into chicken salad without having to wait for a hot chicken to cool. The Whole Foods tiramisu comes in two different sizes for any occasion: a large, family-sized tiramisu for graduation parties and Christmas dinner, or a small, single-serving tiramisu to eat as quickly as possible on your couch while you watch Real Housewives reruns. It's all about versatility! With fall just around the corner, I'm accepting the fact that I rarely have the time and patience to knock out a perfect soup for a casual dinner. Instead, I'm picking up this Corn and Hatch Chile Chowder from Whole Foods, which is delicious and easy to reheat. One of my favorite high school memories is taking a few Whole Foods pizza slices to our local drive-in movie theatre and watching a very scary horror movie with my best friend, Hannah. I'm always reminded of that when I hit the Whole Foods pizza aisle, which, compared to some New York slices, isn't half bad. Whole Foods carries a variety of these ready-to-bake flatbreads, and this Barbecue Chicken one is my favorite. They're a great centerpiece for an impromptu wine night at home!
