Viola Davis Did Not Hold Back As She Slammed Target's "Apology" Over That Shocking Kids' Halloween Costume

Target said that it’s “looking closely at how” the offensive kids’ costume — which was widely compared to a Jim Crow-style caricature — ended up for sale on its website. As a Celebrity Reporter, I cover everything from fashion and award shows to TV, film, and cultural conversations. That Target costume is egregious, doubly so because they got a Black child to model it. An apology from us: We pulled an offensive Halloween costume that should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer for sale. As a company, we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry. We know this is especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members and partners.… They don’t know HOW a blackface costume ended up on their shelves??? https://t.co/LLtHfiyAdE “Go off, Viola!!!” someone said. “It takes a real one to use their platform for good,” another person added.
