“His response, ‘I didn’t know you were that paranoid.’”

I’m an award-winning writer and editor living in New York City, where I currently work at BuzzFeed as the Senior Lifestyle Editor.

"I insisted I was fearful I had developed new scarring, but was not asked to come in, and given few, if any, other advice or options. Finally, after weeks of persistent pain in the right side of my pelvis, I was scheduled for a sonogram, which confirmed that my left ovary was stuck behind my uterus, and my right ovary couldn’t be seen at all. I’m awaiting results from an MRI, but have already been told to expect surgery.

It should not take YEARS to diagnose something so many women suffer from, nor should there be no cure for it. We should be talking about this! Advocate for yourself, ladies. You can’t count on anyone to do it for you."

"Back when I was a young, pretty waitress, at least one man per shift would leave his phone number INSTEAD of a tip. I even called a few to ask WTF they thought they were doing. Apparently, being 'willing to take you out and buy you dinner' was (to their minds) FAR more valuable than a measly 15%.

Men, if you do this, STOP IT immediately! It's fine(ish) to leave your number, but if you think your number is 'better than cash,' I can assure you that you'll not only strike out, but the woman of your dreams will be telling her coworkers what a pathetic piece of shit you are!"
