Fox News host Maria Bartiromo’s comment about Donald Trump and the Iran war had critics saying she’d almost, just almost, stumbled on the real issue.

On Sunday, as the conflict continued following the collapse of the ceasefire, Bartiromo said:

“I don’t understand how it’s possible that Iran has the capabilities to fight this way and continue to try to lash out at Gulf countries and U.S. military bases, because the U.S. has obliterated Iran’s military and the president continues to reiterate that.”

Trump has repeatedly falsely claimed that Iran’s military has been totally and utterly defeated in the conflict he launched in February.

Critics suggested there was a simpler explanation: that Trump was lying and Bartiromo had fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

“Boy this is a tough one, since Trump is so truthful,” snarked former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) in response.
