Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) caused an uproar on social media in the wake of Tuesday’s Supreme Court decision striking down President Donald Trump’s executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship.

Following the ruling, Ogles announced that he would be introducing what he called the “Anchors Away Act,” which, according to him, bans certain pregnant foreign women from entering the United States.

“So, I have a bill; it will be called Anchors Away, which, look, if you’re not a U.S. citizen, if you’re not a green card holder, and you have a child on U.S. soil, today, that child will be a U.S. citizen,” Ogles said in a video posted to social media.

“Under my bill, under my legislation, we fix that and go back to what our founders intended. So in short, what this bill does is if you are a pregnant woman, you can’t come into this country. You got to be a citizen, be here, you have to be a green card holder. So if you’re pregnant and you don’t have one of those statuses, no admittance allowed,” he continued.

The “anchor” part of Ogles’ bill refers to the pejorative term, “anchor babies,” used by many conservatives to describe children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants.

SCOTUS betrayed America. It's time to bar pregnant foreigners from coming to this country. We are being colonized. Anchors Away! pic.twitter.com/uBQ0Tduy7A

Ogles, in announcing the bill, was seemingly following Trump’s lead, who lambasted the high court’s decision on Tuesday and called on Congress to pass legislation to end birthright citizenship.

“The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship. They will have my Complete and Total Support!”

Any legislation Congress passes would likely run up against the same hurdles the president’s executive order did, as the plain language in the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution makes clear that all children born on U.S. soil are American citizens.

Furthermore, Ogles’ bill, or any other legislation on the matter, would likely be dead on arrival in the Senate if it passed in the House of Representatives, as Republicans don’t possess the 60 votes necessary to overcome the filibuster.

Reaction to Ogles’ announcement was swift on social media, with many critics pointing out that two of the three mothers of Trump’s five children were foreign-born citizens: his ex-wife, Ivana Trump and his current wife, Melania Trump. Some critics framed the legislation as another way for conservatives to control women’s bodies, while others called into question the logistics of enforcing such a law:

The party of less government wants to have every woman tourist take a pregnancy test? https://t.co/La7qFbmJxm

Who would even want to go anywhere near the US at the moment unless they really absolutely had to.

Very fitting to be arguing this in the middle of the World Cup, in which the USMNT’s best/second best player is only an American citizen because his Londoner mom was too pregnant to get on her return flight back to the UK. Jus soli, asshole https://t.co/LJyFYuByrg

Men like this will always try to control women by controlling our bodies. There's a special place in hell for all of them. But it's even hotter and more hellish where women who enable them wind up. https://t.co/Otpqj3aZ0A

Too bad they didn’t pass it when your ancestors came from wherever they immigrated from. https://t.co/SqGJ0EdF5a
