“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon said the UFC bouts on the White House lawn Sunday will show off President Donald Trump’s adaptability. But not in those exact words.

“The UFC fight will be a nice change for Trump,” Fallon said on Thursday. “He can go from sleeping inside a sporting event to outside.”

It seems Trump won’t live down his apparent nap timeout at Madison Square Garden during Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Staying awake through the UFC event, which will also mark his 80th birthday and is billed as a celebration for the country’s 250th birthday, could be redemption for him.

Or perhaps bloodsport unfolding where the leader of the free world lives isn’t such a great idea in the first place.

The fight card “transcends the bounds of tastelessness, and it sullies the image of this country, and what the White House should represent,” said Edward Lengel, chief historian of the White House Historical Association during Trump’s first term.

Well, the president could always brag about the celebrities who will be attending.

Oh, wait, that doesn’t seem to be working out either.
