Nicole Kidman gave her first public comments on her split from Keith Urban this week as part of a candid new interview with Variety. The “Moulin Rouge” actor confirmed to the outlet she’s in good spirits since finalizing her divorce from Urban in January after about 19 years of marriage. “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” she said. “That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.” She went on to note: “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.” Kidman and Urban, a country musician whose hits include “Someone Like You” and “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” announced their separation in September of last year. The former couple share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. At the time of the split, numerous outlets reported that Kidman and Urban had been living apart since the start of the summer, though this was never officially confirmed. The two stars made their final red carpet appearance in May when they attended the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards. About a month later, Kidman acknowledged their wedding anniversary with a sweet tribute to her then-husband on Instagram. These days, Kidman’s acting career is once again in high gear. She can currently be seen in the new Amazon Prime Video series “Scarpetta,” which co-stars Simon Baker and Jamie Lee Curtis. She also recently completed work on a sequel to 1998’s “Practical Magic” with Sandra Bullock, and appears poised to reprise her role as Celeste Wright in a third season of HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” though no timeline for that much-anticipated project has been announced. Elsewhere in her Variety chat, Kidman said she’s eager to return to live theater, but would prefer to do so in the off-Broadway space or even outside of New York and London altogether. And while she’s no longer required to be at the epicenter of the country music scene, she currently has no plans to relocate from Nashville, Tennessee. “We have our life here,” she said. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
