Promising review: "Great [alternative] for the Hourglass phantom volumizing lip balm (Rose Brown swatches like Trace from Hourglass)" —Jay C

Promising review: "Edited to update my reviews after purchasing around 6 more of these since my initial review…. Wanted to add that they each have a different SCENT as well. The Cherry actually smells like cherry candy! I absolutely love these and cannot recommend them enough. I love this balm in “Pink”! I compare the consistently to Tarte Maricuja Juicy Lip, and YSL Loveshine Candy Glaze. I’ve become hooked on these thick, honey-like balms, and this brand’s a Honey Melting Lip really has the best shade options in my opinion. I wish there were discounted bundled trios, but I'm paying full price for the Grey and the color change black sparkle, which should arrive tomorrow. I keep reaching for the Pink and it’s pretty much all I’ve worn on my lips since it arrived last week. And the thick, non-sticky honey has such an amazing texture. This is priced less than Tarte and YSL, but my favorite of the three. Oh, and the plastic cases come color-coded, so you can tell them apart. This is a huge plus since I imagine I’ll have a large collection of these soon :)" —iPad Mama

This left my skin feeling very soft and smooth and overall very hydrated the lather was Excellent I felt clean without any unnecessary residue. Definitely will be purchasing again." —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "This is spa-quality body wash. No ifs and or butts. I have $40 bath washes that aren’t as nice!!! From the first pump, you know the serum quality and the SMELL???? Oh my gosh!!! I’m still smelling my skin. I purchased the Sandalwood, and it is just so beautiful and calming. It has buttery texture, it’s extremely light but moisturizing even afterwards. I can’t say enough good things about. I just finished my shower and I want to go back!!! It’s an incredibly large bottle in person and it is going to last forever. I got a coupon for mine, thankfully." —Regina Bullard

Promising review: "I was gifted the Hanacure masks and loved them, but they're just way too pricey. I heard SO many wonderful things about the Skin 1004 zombie mask, and at about $2.50 a pop, why not?! Let me tell you, this mask is just straight-up magic. I didn't notice any changes to my skin immediately, but a few hours later, when I looked in the mirror, I was shocked at how wonderful my skin looked. I've never noticed a difference like this. Hanacure who?!?? Don't get me wrong, the Hanacure mask is amazing and magical too, but it's expensive and impossible to maintain the twice-weekly mask schedule recommended. This Zombie mask is every bit as magical, with better results in my opinion. And it's super funny. A lot of the reviews mention a bad smell which I was worried about but I didn't notice a smell and I'm so sensitive to smell I can't used scented lotions, lip balms etc. Bottom line, this is better than Hanacure, both price and results-wise." —Dana Dane

Skin1004 Zombie Pack Face Masks: $9.70 at Amazon (for eight masks).

Hanacure All-in-One Set: $118 at Amazon (enough for four masks).

Promising review: "I have Fenty Cherry Treat, a lip oil from Dior, and several other brands that were $20 or more…and the NYX Fat Oil is better! Same consistency as the others, but a little more color, which is a good thing. About as long-lasting as any other thick lip gloss. It’s always awesome to find a less expensive [swap] for the high-end products I like." —Jennifer

NYX Fat Lip Drip: $8.99 at Amazon (available in 16 shades, plus clear).

Dior Glow Lip Oil: $42 at Sephora (available in 18 shades).

Promising review: "Heaven sent for your skin; heavenly scent to enjoy. This feels absolutely amazing going on. Gets absorbed quickly, for a lotion rich with oil. Doesn't leave a greasy feeling, as long as you give it a minute or two to fully absorb. The scent is, for me anyway, like aromatherapy. It smells like an iced sugar cookie and is a great base layer for fragrance. Very relaxing." —Dragonheart Jo

Eos Vanilla Cashmere Lotion: $9.97 at Amazon

Philosophy Warm Cashmere Fresh Cream: $32 at Philosophy

When it comes to vitamin C, this formulation is on the stronger side, so you should do a patch test before using! And make sure you use SPF after (tbh as you should every morning)! Though the bottle looks small, reviewers say it'll last you several months with daily use.

Promising review: "I ran out of Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, which I love, but didn’t want to spend $169 around Christmas. After reading glowing reviews, I gave this serum a try. Wow! Just as effective for a fraction of the cost. It smooths your skin and reduces the bumpy texture of aging skin. At 62, I no longer break out, but now have milia. This product, along with Paula’s Choice BHA, is slowly reducing the milia and improving texture. Buy it!" —ramonalisa

Promising review: "I should have started using this years ago! I’m in my mid-30s, and I’ve tried everything, including much more expensive brands, Korean skincare, Japanese skincare, etc., but I’ve always had breakouts and problems with texture. This is by far the best vitamin C product I’ve tried. I’ve tried multiple vitamin C serums in the past, but they always broke me out or had a slimy or gritty texture. This serum has a smooth texture, soaks in quickly, does not pill with other products, and has noticeably cleared up my skin." —Amazon Customer

SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum: $185 at SkinCeuticals (for 30 ml)

Promising review: "I used this with my Olay Regenerist Cream (it helps with my wrinkles). I mixed it, and it does a great deal of shine! You should buy it if you're looking for a Drunk Elephant Bronzi Drops substitute! Way better than Drunk Elephant." —raegan kuball

Promising review: "I actually like this glowy lotion better than the Drunk Elephant one, and I have both. This goes on smoothly and is not greasy. It leaves you very glowy with a beautiful tan, and works well with makeup on top if you so wish. Lasting power too. Recommend." —ggvega

L'Oreal Lumi Glotion: $14.97 at Amazon (available in five shades).

Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops: $39 at Amazon (available in one shade).

Promising review: "Don't hesitate, just buy these. I was using the Real Technique sponges for years and bought these on a whim after seeing several TikToks praising these. I love these sponges and the price. I apply liquid foundation with a damp sponge, and these work better than Real Techniques. They are dense but soft and 'bouncy.' I wash mine between each use, and these hold up very well and much better than the RT. Very happy with my purchase and the price. Will definitely continue to buy." —chris

Promising review: "These are seriously the BEST generic Beautyblender!! Why anyone would pay $20 for a name-brand Beautyblender when there are excellent [alternatives] like these is beyond my realm of comprehension. These are just as soft, bouncy, and absorbent (but not overly so, as to waste product) as the name brand. And they cost a little over $1 a piece, as compared to the AT LEAST $20 price tag on the name-brand Beauty Blenders! So this is a total no-brainer! I find washing my BBs a pain in the a$$, even with alcohol, so @ this price, they’re pretty much disposable. This is the fourth or fifth package of these I’ve purchased, and I hope they never stop making them @ this cost. Coz I’ll buy this brand till the end of time, if they let me!" —philip

Promising review: "I didn’t think I would love it and just bought this eyeliner because I wanted to try an alternative to Stila, which I’ve been using for over eight years. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised and loved the pigment. It’s pitch black. It honestly stayed on longer than Stila’s waterproof eyeliner ever does. I might just make it a regular. It does smudge very little by the end of the day, but it might be due to me smiling often (I work in education). Nonetheless, I love this eyeliner." —Ruby Cruz

NYX Epic Ink Liner: $9.99 at Amazon (available in black and brown).

Stila Waterproof Liner: $25 at Amazon (available in 14 colors).

"Honestly, the MVP. They have a fluffier, lighter formula than Tarte's Shape Tape, and I found that they last longer on the face. Tarte is good, but after 8+ hours, it creases." —e45a62c6a4

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer: $9.98 at Amazon (available in 18 shades).

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer: $32 at Amazon (available in 38 shades).

Promising review: "Wizardry. This stuff is magic. I love putting it on, whether I am wearing makeup or not. It instantly makes you look like you got a full night's sleep." —Sara Smith

Promising review: "I like this better than the Becca version. This is easier to put on and more moisturizing. The Becca one always feels tacky to me, and this is nice and smooth. It just guides on. The Becca one might provide a little more coverage, but you can build [this one] on. TikTok recommended and approved by me." —Becky duPuis Bartek

Catrice Instant Awake Under Eye Brightener: $6 at Amazon (available in five shades

Becca Under-Eye Corrector: $33 at Amazon (available in four shades)

Promising review: "BEST PURCHASE I'VE MADE THIS YEAR! I was just going to take my mascara off with it, and I ended up rubbing it all over my face, lol! It’s like all the TikTok reviews, etc, say…perfect makeup remover. Buy this now, and you will throw away what you’ve been using. My face feels so clean." —Michele

Promising review: "Better than Elemis at a fraction of the price! I just received this lovely product today, but am already blown away by how well it removes my eye makeup while leaving the skin on the rest of my face not oily, not dry, or stripped, but JUST RIGHT. The citrus scent is light and pleasant. I’ve been struggling to remove my eye makeup lately, despite double cleansing with different products, including Elemis cleansing balm. Which, despite the price, leaves me needing to cleanse with a foaming cleanser to feel truly clean. My makeup washed right off, and I didn’t need to go over my lash line with makeup remover. Such a time saver! You only need a small amount of product for your whole face so I think this jar will last a few months." —Heather

Juno & Co Cleansing Balm: $14.99 at Amazon

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm: $75 at Amazon

It has new packaging, just FYI, if it looks different when you order it — I just make sure my order is sold by + shipped by Amazon! This is my all-time fave, never-be-without night cream, and I always make sure to keep at least one extra jar on hand, because it's sometimes sold out!

Promising review: "Bought this thanks to Nina Pool on TikTok, who reads the ingredients in luxury beauty products and finds cheaper [alternatives] with the same ingredients. The CeraVe Replenishing Night Cream has the same ingredients as Charlotte Tillbury’s Magic Cream, but for a fraction of the cost. This cream is now a holy grail product of mine! My skin has never been softer or more luminous, especially in the winter. You don’t need to use a ton (I use about a chickpea-size dollop on each cheek and half of that on my nose and forehead, then blend), and you see results almost the next day. I will forever be repurchasing this!" —karmstrong

Promising review: "I can’t say enough good things about this moisturizer. I started using it about a year ago when my SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid ran out, and I went searching for a more budget-friendly option. This one not only delivers—it goes above and beyond! Saving over $130 feels like winning the skincare lottery, and to top it off, this moisturizer lasts just as long (maybe even longer) than the Triple Lipid. What I love most is that I don’t have to ration it out like liquid gold. I can use a nice, generous amount without feeling like an oil slick afterward. Somehow, it’s a fix-all for any skin issues I have — dryness, dullness, you name it. If I could only pick one moisturizer to stick with forever, this would definitely be “the one”! Time to say “I DO!” —Kalie

CeraVe Skin-Renewing Night Cream: $15.44 at Amazon

SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore moisturizer: $155 at Skinceuticals

Promising review: "I finally received my new body spray yesterday and was in complete shock at the resemblance to Baccarat Rouge 540. This body spray is so delicious. It is definitely a Baccarat Rouge 540 [alternative]. There were so many reviews that said how much this body spray resembled the very pricey perfume, and they were all correct. I absolutely love Baccarat Rouge 540, but it is so expensive compared to other perfumes like Chanel, so I opt not to purchase it regularly. This body spray is a wonderful substitute for overpriced perfume. Today will be my first day wearing the spray, so hopefully, it will have great longevity throughout the day as well. 🤞🏼 Regardless, I would still purchase it again moving forward." —Tina

Promising review: "I opened up my package as soon as I got it, sprayed it, and could not believe how IDENTICAL it smells to the Baccarat Rouge. It’s literally the exact same. It’s a very warm-smelling undertone of vanilla with the top scents of Brazilian jasmine and “sun musk,” just like the description on the bottle. I would definitely recommend this as an [alternative] for the Baccarat Rouge 540 if anyone were looking for one" —Rachel Jackel

Baccarat Rouge 540: $715 at Nordstrom (for 6.8 ounces; smaller sizes also available)

Promising review: "OK. So I’m a mascara snob! This is better than Dior Show, better than Better than Better than Sex. I’ve ordered this repeatedly about 14x and you won’t be dissatisfied, I PROMISE. I use micellar water to remove my makeup on little cotton squares. EASY. Take a chance. $4.99 vs $40 for Dior. You can’t go wrong❤️" —john t dowell

Promising review: "I can only praise this mascara! It’s easy to put on, and you control how dramatic you want your lashes. No smudge. Very easy to remove, and the BEST part is the price!! In my opinion, this is better than Better than Sex. Definitely love and will buy again" —Mayra Zambrano

Btw, while some reviewers with curl types 4a–c like the oval brush, if you're looking for something to blow out tighter curls or coils, try the Revlon One-Step *paddle* brush, which is designed with curlier hair in mind! You can get it from Amazon for $49.99.

Promising review: "This is the fourth blow-dryer [brush] I've owned. Yes, fourth. The previous three were from the DryBar line, full-sized blow-out brushes. 1st on that line died w/in a year, second eventually died within a year. The third one actually caught on fire, which required me to unplug it and drop it in the toilet to put out the fire. DO NOT buy that name brand. After the fire, I decided to buy a much cheaper Revlon, and oh my God, wow, the difference in my hair. It's not dry or frizzy, and it's actually smooth to the touch. My coworkers and S.O have noticed the difference. Buy this hair dryer, you and you won't regret it — and neither will your fire detector." —Lillies of the Valley

Promising review: "I love Urban Decay’s single shadow in Space Cowboy, and saw everyone saying the shade Ritz is an [alternative]. It definitely is. Practically identical. Ritz looks a little darker in the pan than it swatches. Gives a “wet” eyeshadow look. Best applied with fingers, no primer needed, very little fallout, appropriate for any occasion, and lasts until you wash it off. I’m going to get many more colors now. 😊" —Briann

Promising review: "The key to clear skin! This is the best thing I've ever bought for my face on Amazon. Trust me when I say YOU NEED THIS in your face routine. I've tried so, so many things and nothing has worked. I tried Paula's Choice BHA, and it does not compare to how much better this is. This dries on without any greasy feeling. It literally cleared my face overnight. I was starting to get really bad acne, and this literally cleared my complexion. I've had really bad acne due to stress lately, and this has been my savior! My face is unbelievably smooth and clear of acne. Even my dark spots are fading, and I've only been using it for one week. My face literally glows! If you have any doubts like I did, just buy it. You will not regret it :)" —Diana V

I have very fair lashes and am always looking for the ultimate mascara with a lot of volume that stays put all day. Even the washable version of Lash Sensational needs a good eye makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day. I've never had my lashes look so long and lush!" —alisonm43cd2fbbc

Promising review: "I am a pro makeup artist. If you're looking to buy an inexpensive oval brush set this is the one you need. I bought it because I was curious to find out what was the rave about these brushes and let me tell you something they are EVERYTHING!!! The softest by far — I don't have any streaking when I apply my liquid foundation the brush is smooth also it is very good to blend with powder liquid or cream. I use the medium one to bake it fits perfectly under my eyes and chin and gets right in between my brows to bake and my forehead. I really love them, such a great buy. My sister bought one off of me because she loved the way her makeup came out when I used them on her. I will be honest I really love the bigger brushes over the very small; I actually use the smaller ones to blend concealer or if I need to get detailed. I haven't tried applying eyeshadow with them but they are still very useful. The real Artis Brushes set of 10 will cost you $355 not including tax or shipping so to me I believe this is a steal. Lastly I love the look of these it doesn't have a logo on it which makes it look better quality. Also the Rose gold is stunning. It isn't real metal, which is why they are a bit bendable so pack use and wash them with care and they will last you hope this helps." —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "Better than Olaplex. I saw this in a BuzzFeed article. The reviews were so good, I ordered it. Y’all. It came today. My hair looks like I spent all day at the salon. My hair didn’t look this good after my last Olaplex treatment and blowout. All I did after my shower was brush my hair. This is my go-to satin pillowcase. I have two Slip pillowcases, and several of these, and actually, the Bedsure ones wash up much nicer and retain an incredibly silky smooth feel after dozens of trips through the laundry. They're the only ones I'll buy going forward, and I recommended them to my mom, and now she's in love with them, too!

My ABH brow pencil just ran out, and instead of replenishing it, I bought this instead! The shade I wear (taupe) is pretty much identical, and I'm loving it so far! BuzzFeed Shopping writer Jordan Grigsby (pictured on the right above!) loves it too!

"Just as good as the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz! It's literally half the cost. I use the color 'taupe' in the NYX version, and it's exactly the same as the color 'taupe' in ABH. It's just as precise with just as much color payoff. This product has saved me so much money, and my brows still look awesome." —yesnokatyso

"The NYX version is about half the price of the Brow Wiz, and from years of experience using both, the NYX pencil lasts over twice as long as the Brow Wiz, and the colors are so much better for me." —oatmeal1991

Promising review: "I would use hair spray to hold my eyebrows, and throughout the day I would sweat through it, and it wouldn’t last. I tried this because the price was great, and I’m glad I did. This product is awesome. I’ve had it on my brows for a nine-hour shift, and they are still in place! It doesn’t dry and get flaky, nor does it feel uncomfortable on the skin. Lastly, I use brow powder, and this does NOT affect the look of the powder, nor does it smudge it. I will FOREVER buy this product." —Shelby

Promising review: "OK, I was skeptical as I love my ABH Brow Freeze. But a friend did my makeup and used it, and I was really impressed. So, I got some and played with it on my own. It is so much smoother to glide through my brows. I work it through back and front, then again with a clean spoolie. I LOVE the results. It also washes out really well (even if I don't use a makeup wipe)." —Miss Jordan

Promising review: "This stuff is so legit I’ve gone through three bottles. Adds the perfect glow to your skin! Sometimes I use it under foundation, and sometimes I use it solo with a bit of concealer. I will never not repurchase it for the price and how beautifully it sits on the skin. This stuff is viral for a reason!!" —mapagill

Promising review: "If you like Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, this is leaps and bounds better! Just buy it. The coverage is better and makes my skin have the most amazing natural glow! The colors run with a more warm/yellow undertone, which worked great for me! Spend a fraction of the price and just get it; you will be happy you did!" —Amazonreview

Promising review: "We saw this highlighter in a makeup tutorial video online and thought we would try it. It was an easy decision to purchase it because the price was relatively low compared to other highlighters. It is worth every penny and more! I’ve seen this shade applied on different skin tones and it looks beautiful on everyone! Just the right shimmer, not glitter. It’s gorgeous!" —Joyinmyheart
