People Who Work With Dead Bodies Are Sharing The Wildest Things They've Seen On The Job

“I saw it happen once and never fully got over it.” As a full-time writer at BuzzFeed, I cover travel, books, relationships, sitcoms, and all things pop culture. Warning: This post contains graphic descriptions of dead bodies. "The trooper yelled, 'WITH YOUR LEFT HAND, REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION AND DROP THEM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE!' I did it. He went on, 'EXIT THE VEHICLE FACING AWAY FROM ME. INTERLOCK YOUR HANDS ON THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD AND WALK BACKWARDS TOWARDS ME!' I started to get nervous. While I knew I hadn't done anything to warrant a 'felony stop,' I followed his instructions. When I approached the back of my van, I finally understood why the cop was so twitchy. There was blood leaking out of the back of the van. It was smeared all over the bumper. He told me to get on my knees. He then asked me, 'What's in the back of the van?' I replied, 'A dead guy.' He paused for a second and then told me to open my van. Witty repartee aside, I opened the doors and showed him my paperwork. It was clear that I was allowed to have a corpse in my vehicle." "Something gave, and his head started lolling. I had to prop his head up from the right side to get a couple of photos. Then, the X-ray people came in and took X-rays all over. When they came back, one of the techs said, 'Holy sh*t! This guy's neck is BROKEN!' with the emphasis on broken, like it was really, really broken in some messed-up way. I was embarrassed, but the doctor told me not to worry; there was no question about how this guy died or whose fault it was. I kept the wooden nickel." Note: Some responses have been edited for length and/or clarity.
