If only another Dan Sullivan in Alaska would throw his hat in the ring.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump had yet another Truth Social meltdown, this time over the bizarre situation in Alaska’s Senate race — and if you’re not already aware, the whole kerfuffle sounds pretty silly.

That’s because the two Republican candidates on the November ballot are both named Dan Sullivan: incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan and Dan J. Sullivan, a retired teacher from Petersburg. Although both will appear as GOP candidates, voters will distinguish them by their middle initials and the word “incumbent” next to the senator’s name.

The two Sullivans will face off against each other and Democratic challenger Mary Peltola.

Trump and other Republicans have claimed publicly that Dan J. Sullivan is a “fake” candidate who is only running to make the ballot confusing and to siphon votes from the senator. Dan J. Sullivan has denied the accusation.

But that doesn’t really matter to the president, so on Wednesday he took to Truth Social to double down on his claim.

“I am very concerned about the Dan S. Sullivan Race for the U.S. Senate in Alaska in that it is totally confusing, with the Dumocrats putting up another man, totally unrelated to Politics, named Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr.,” Trump wrote.

The president went on to refer to an Alaska Supreme Court decision in June that ruled that a man with the same name and party affiliation is qualified to run for the seat, and ordered election officials to place Dan J. Sullivan’s name on the August primary ballot. Thanks to the state’s ranked-choice voting, the retired teacher advanced to the general election after finishing in the top four in the primary.

“It’s ridiculous that the Court didn’t stop this SCAM. Even 1, 2, or 3% could make the difference. Dan S. Sullivan is leading by a lot, but this is CHEATING in an Election, and the Judge that allowed this to happen should be ashamed of himself.”

The president added: “We are looking at powerful legal options to remove the fraudulent Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. from the Ballot, and holding the Democrats accountable for their Election Interference, in the pursuit of Justice and Fairness.”

And, just to really nail down his point, Trump added a fun little graphic to the bottom of his post — just in case some of his followers are more visual learners.

“How could I be a fake Dan Sullivan? That is my real name! :)” Dan J. Sullivan told HuffPost in an email earlier this month.

He added that he’s running because he’s not happy with high gas prices, the war in Iran and “the politics of division” he sees his senator engaging in.

And for what it’s worth, some Independents and Democrats in Alaska are having a good laugh over the whole ordeal.

“I think it’s hilarious,” Ryan Moldenhauer, 28, of Anchorage told HuffPost last month. “He’s Alaskan. He’s from Petersburg. Like, he has every right to run.”
