Trump Derails Women’s Health Event To Talk About How He Saved Women’s… Shoes?!

President Donald Trump veered off topic at an event promoting women’s health on Monday, using a speech to toot his own horn over renovations at the White House. Trump, who was met with applause after thanking first lady Melania Trump at the signing ceremony for an executive order, signaled for the crowd to take their seats in the Rose Garden before the white stone patio his administration installed last year appeared to catch his attention. “If I might — that stone is so beautiful,” began the president, marveling at the ground before him toward the start of his roughly two-minute-long tangent. Trump claimed that the White House was built on a wetland and, thus, the grass in the Rose Garden would be “soaking” wet even if it didn’t rain for two weeks. “And many women have ruined their shoes, and they look at me, and they’ve ruined many, many sets of shoes as we kept trying to have — use that swamp and it didn’t work out,” he said. “And what we did here has just been incredible; it’s become the most popular place to have a news conference, and I hope you enjoy it.” He then gushed about the “beautiful” yellow, 4-inch cushions on the patio seats, adding that he had them “specially made” and they’re “a lot more comfortable” than before. The president went on to point to the White House helipad and what he claimed would be the “greatest” ballroom-military complex “that’s ever been built” before finally circling back to his wife, whom he credited with conceiving the idea of a women’s health division at the National Institutes of Health. You can watch the bizarre moment in the Rose Garden below. Trump rants like a lunatic at a women's health event: "That stone is so beautiful ... see the cushions? Those beautiful yellow cushions? Don't they feel nice? I have them specially made ... you have the new heliport and ballroom." pic.twitter.com/H0Xfek0sA2 By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
