Newsmax host Rob Schmitt looked taken aback by some of Trump’s remarkably uncomfortable personal comments while the president campaigned at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio on Monday.

Trump fawned over GOP Sen. Jon Husted and made strangely specific comments about the politician’s body.

“I’m standing over here, and I don’t do this with men very often. I started examining his body because I didn’t know he was a great athlete. And I looked, and I watched up and down,” he said. “And I looked at his ass. ... And then I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He’s got these, like, claws. And I got it. You are a great athlete.”

Schmitt laughed after watching the footage, and appeared visibly shocked after hearing the comments. “I don’t know what the president’s talking about there, talking about Jon Gruden, in a way, I would’ve never expected,” he said.

The president was actually talking about Sen. Husted, though former NFL coach Jon Gruden was also at the rally. Schmitt wasn’t the only TV host surprised by Trump’s comments, as MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough also took issue with the president’s remarks.

“When you invite a president to come in during a midterm election, when you’re in trouble, possibly losing, this is not on the top of your list of things you want the president of the United States to come in and talk about at your rally,” Scarborough said on his show on Tuesday.

The “Morning Joe” host added that Trump is “quite the admirer of the male physique” from “jawline to rear end,” while co-host Willie Geist couldn’t believe the president was “checking out the ‘ass’ of a U.S. senator.”
