U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News commentator and top Trump campaign surrogate, said her time in the role “may be coming to an end” amid numerous reports of suspicious and unethical conduct.

In a post on social media, Guilfoyle appeared to suggest she is leaving the position. Her statement comes less than an hour after the White House announced it had asked her to resign amid misconduct allegations that she asked a Trump donor for $100,000 to pay her American Express bill.

She called the allegations “false” and said she intends to “vigorously defend” her name. She did not address any specific allegation or say whether she had submitted her resignation.

“I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service... While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she wrote.

The news comes an hour after new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia announced in the first press briefing of her term that the administration asked Guilfoyle to resign.

“She has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well,” Zacharia told reporters Tuesday morning.

Some congressional Democrats had called for an investigation after The Wall Street Journal reported that a Republican donor alleged that she asked him to wire money to pay her credit card bill in exchange for her access to the Trump administration. The donor alleged the request came before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. One Republican called the report “very troubling.”

The Journal also exposed Christos Marafatsos, an energy lobbyist who attended her official meetings with foreign officials and has closely advised her, an arrangement the outlet described as highly unusual. Guilfoyle also reportedly boasted at Davos about private jet travel and high-end trips.

Her resignation also comes a day after President Donald Trump said he was “looking at” firing Guilfoyle following the reports, and said, “We’re not happy.”
