Fox News was all about silver linings while breaking down new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia’s debut on Tuesday.

Offering a charitable read of Zacharia’s less-than-polished press briefing, both guest Melissa DeRosa and “Outnumbered” host Kayleigh McEnany focused on the “mic drop moment” when President Donald Trump’s new spokesperson announced that embattled Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle had been asked to resign.

“This was a big story, there was a lot of interest in it,” McEnany said of Guilfoyle, who is accused of asking a major Trump donor for $100,000 to pay her credit card bill.

“To drop massive news like that in your first press briefing, and it was kind of the mic drop moment at the end before a follow-up question, that’s why you heard that clamoring from the press as she walked off,” McEnany added. “She gave that deliverable.”

McEnany breezed past the fact Zacharia spent half her 14-minute briefing struggling through a prewritten statement and only took questions from three reporters before rushing out of the room.

McEnany, who served as White House press secretary during Trump’s first term, also applauded Zacharia for hitting the ground running just one day after officially starting the job.

“She gave herself very little runway before making it out to the podium with this huge news,” McEnany said, telling viewers it took her two weeks to get behind the podium after she was hired in April 2020.

Democratic strategist Melissa DeRosa also praised Zacharia, saying she “presented well” and “didn’t come off as combative,” like some of Trump’s other previous press secretaries.

“She came out loaded with news and dropped the mic and walked away,” DeRosa insisted. “That was a really smart move strategically.”

While Fox News was willing to look on the bright side regarding Zacharia’s performance, one White House official acknowledged it was a rough start in an off-the-record comment.

Right after the briefing, MS NOW’s Stephanie Ruhle quoted an anonymous official who reportedly told the network, “Getting behind the podium is tough, but she got off on the wrong foot. She needs to get much better fast, otherwise she’ll break Scaramucci’s record.”

Back in the summer of 2017, Anthony Scaramucci only lasted in his position as White House communications director for about 11 days.

Scaramucci had his own thoughts about Zacharia’s performance, taking to X to say, “The clock is running. Thus far 1/11th of a Scaramucci.”
