I am a former editor and contributor to the BuzzFeed shopping team with over seven years of experience testing and recommending products that help make life a little easier, whether that’s ultralight gear, holy grail serum, jeans that fit just right, or anything in between. Promising review: "Now that I have tried these towels, I don’t want to be without. I travel a lot, and these towels are a staple in my bag. Love the size as I only need one to remove and wash my face. I also use them in the shower instead of cloths. They are very durable. Will continue purchasing." —DP Here's what BuzzFeed Shopping writer Emma Lord says about it: "I used this on a round-trip from NYC to Tokyo, both with connecting flights in Canada, and cannot sing its praises enough. It fit all four of the different tray tables I used it on and was so ridiculously handy for keeping track of all my littler odds and ends like AirPods, the plane's headphones, earplugs, a sleep mask, a book, gum, a scrunchie, and little snacks. The hanging end of it easily tucked into the built-in sleeve of the seat in front of me for takeoff, and when other passengers needed to scoot past me in my aisle seat. Usually, I feel like a hot mess and get frustrated rooting around in the grimy sleeve for my stuff, and this was such a refreshing solution! Several flight attendants even asked where I got it to buy one for themselves!" Promising review: "I travel almost monthly, and tested this on my most recent international flight. It was amazing! I often struggle with using the seatback pockets, which can be dirty, small, and unable to hold all that I use during the flight. This stretchy pocket not only held my large water bottle, phone, and tablet (and some snacks and trash) and it also provided a less slippery and cleaner surface on the tray top. It was easy to put the tray up and down, too. It's a keeper, and I never want to fly without it now." —Ann McGregor Promising review: "This safe has become a MUST-have on all our vacations. We no longer travel without it. We put two iPhones, cash, and car keys in this little safe, locked it to a beach cabana, threw a towel over it, and took off for an hour of snorkeling. Never once worried about our belongings. We now use several of these as room safes AND as 'hide a key' lockboxes outside our vacation condo for teens who come and go throughout the day. They are invaluable!" —KeepIT Reel Get it from Amazon for $16.17+ (available in two colors and a two- or four-pack). You can either use it as a scent inhaler or rub it directly on the tip of your nose for relief. Promising review: "I get super motion and seasick. Like nauseous just looking at the ocean. I got this for my trip to Mexico, and it’s been a lifesaver. It smells nice and instantly helps my nausea. You can dot a little under your nose, and it’ll last a while, or you can give it a quick sniff and be good for a bit. I’m never traveling without this again." —Taylor Get a two-pack from Amazon for $12.99 (also available in a three- or four-pack). Each pack comes with three packets. And because they *are* liquid, they'll easily slide into the side of your toiletries bag. Promising review: "These packs of TIDE liquid are perfect for quick washing while on vacation. I have literally carried them all over the world. Will never travel without them." —Grana Get a three-pack from Amazon for $6.90 (also available in other multipacks). This contraption provides 360-degree support thanks to a wraparound design and clips that connect it to your seat's headrest. Promising review: "I travel frequently overseas for work, and I have been on the hunt for a way to get more sleep, comfortably in economy... this was the answer! Well, this plus the TRTL neck pillow and earplugs, but this stops my head from bobbing and waking me up, and fully blocks out all light. I tried just this on a flight and I did feel my neck sagging slightly, which is why it needs to be paired with a neck pillow IMO, but this was an amazing addition to my airplane sleep roster, and I will never travel without it again." —Kaitlyn Get it from Amazon for $20.99+ (available in nine colors). Promising review: "I love this travel razor! I go on a lot of trips for work and pleasure, and I like to keep my toiletries organized and minimal. This is a perfect size for my toiletry bag. The handle is large enough that it doesn’t interfere with razor use, and the case is a great bonus. I’ll never travel without this again." —Joanne Promising review: "It looks small but holds a decent amount. I took this to Paris as I wanted something small I could wear daily, be hands-free, and possibly under a jacket. This bag fits a small water bottle (with the cap sticking out), passport, credit cards, lipstick, iPhone, cash, and keys. Even if you’re going to carry a bigger bag, this is great for your cash and passport and is very light. I won’t travel without it." —Kindle Customer Get it from Amazon for $12.98+ (available in 34 colors). Promising reviews: "I use these for travel and freshening up on the plane before landing or whenever I am hot and am not in a place where I can wash my face. They are wonderful. I used to buy the big packs, but found them awkward to carry. With these, I throw a bunch in my travel pack, and I am off. Love them!" —BrianM_NJ "Can't live without these when I travel. SO much easier than carrying a bottle of cleanser!" —Genevieve V Promising reviews: "I bought this nifty gadget about six months ago for a multi-leg, ultra-long-haul trip, and it more than held up the entire duration. I was able to finagle it to fit the tray tables on different planes, and like others, I find the height just nice when clamped onto a stowed tray table. It also works on my roller carry-on handle during layovers." —Earendil "Second one I've bought and I refuse to travel without it." —Marilyn Ramos Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in seven colors and in two-packs). Psst — Loop makes a variety of "hidden" earplugs for concerts, focus, and even for kids. Check them all out on Loop's Amazon storefront! Promising review: "I absolutely love these earplugs! I never travel without them anymore. If I happen to forget them, I actually miss them because they’re just that comfortable. They fit really well, stay in place all night, and do an amazing job reducing noise without feeling uncomfortable in my ears. I’ve recommended these to so many friends, and everyone who’s tried them has loved them too. Loop has become my go-to brand for earplugs, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again. Highly recommend!" —The Real Queen of Deals & Finds Get it from Amazon for $24.95 (available in four colors). When I decided to tag some time onto a trip to France to travel around Europe and do the hostel thing, I knew I needed to pack super light so I could book cheap commuter flights and overall avoid the whole endeavor feeling like a slog. I had some doubts as to whether such a — I'll say it — trendy bag could handle that kind of weight, and wear and tear, but to my utter delight it did. And it looked damn good while doing so. The laptop sleeve is slightly padded and fits my MacBook Air, which I depend on for work, nicely and safely. Its water bottle sleeve is handy not just for bottles but also for keeping essentials like sunglasses and headphones at your fingertips. It has many interior pockets to keep things like electronics, notebooks, cash, etc., safe and separate, and it even has a separate shoe compartment if you bring more than one pair and want to keep the rest of your goods from getting dirty. Wheeled bags have their place, but as someone traveling alone and doing a lot of walking, I appreciated that I could sling this over my shoulder and head to a café or just stroll without looking out of place while waiting to check in at a hostel or to board a train. You don't need to put this bag through the ultimate test, like I did, to enjoy it. Even just as an overnight bag, it's an amazing addition to any travel setup. It may be pricey, but not needing to pay an arm and a leg to add a carry-on on cheap flights makes the bag pay for itself. Get it from Calpak for $117.30+ (originally $138; available in eight colors). This really is just the nicest luggage I've ever had. The price tag is high, but considering how much having the right equipment can make or break a trip, I really think it's worth it. In the past, I've always struggled with sticky wheels, wobbly handles, and zippers I was afraid to really push. Monos' carry-on has a durable exterior (it moved with me across the country via a moving company and survived an experience on a banged-up pallet), interior straps to keep everything tightly in place, and is really just a good-looking bag. Three-plus years in and I highly rec. Promising review: "I bought one for my husband and one for me. We used them to travel through four countries in 10 days. We carried it on the plane, several trains, a rental car, and rolled it over miles of cobblestone streets through snow and ice! We were able to pack everything we needed for 10 days in the luggage and a backpack. I can’t express how pleased I am with this purchase! If you’re on the fence, buy it! You won’t be sorry!" —Jennifer S. Get it from Monos for $234 (originally $275; available in 14 colors). Promising review: "This works really well. Able to hold my large water bottle and soda in the airport instead of struggling with holding everything. It also has a slot for your phone that's the perfect size. It does fold down pretty slim, so it just slides right down the side of my bag, no problem. I don't travel without this anymore!" —Kayla Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in 17 colors). Promising review: "This charger is a gem!!!! I already had a portable power bank, but it was larger than this, and since I was heading off on an international trip, I wanted to take as little as I could, so I bought this. All I can really say is 'WOW!' It charges VERY fast, the little cord is always there, built in as a strap, and it fits perfectly in my small purse, so I can take it everywhere. I will never travel without this. We'll see how long it lasts — hopefully a long time." —Jana M. Get it from Amazon for $21.59+ (available in five colors). Here's what BuzzFeed Shopping writer Emma Lord says: "HELLO, I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE. Despite all the rave reviews, I was definitely skeptical of space-saving bags that didn't require a vacuum, and even as they were actively squishing my clothes into oblivion, I still couldn't quite believe it. I had easily two suitcases worth of clothes I wanted to pack for a three-week trip to London, and I managed to neatly pack the entirety of my wardrobe in one roller carry-on bag. Truly, all I had to do was put my clothes in the bag, push them to the bottom, and then sit on it to get the air out before sealing it up. I had tons of extra bags and made a habit of taking them with me in case other people joining me on trips need them to be able to pack souvenirs on the way home. I'm never taking a long trip without these again — these are worth every damn penny. Psst — just note that airlines will still enforce weight limits, so don't fly TOO close to the sun packing these up!" Promising review: "We won't travel without these. Easy to use and makes it easier to fit all our clothing without the fight. No longer need to put a knee on or have to sit on the luggage in order to zip the luggage." —steve Promising review: "We don't travel without this handy case to organize all of our charging cords, power bank, plugs, earbud, etc. My husband has an iPhone, and I have a Samsung phone, so we have different types of cords to take. Excellent quality, it has made many trips." —Ceedee Get it from Amazon for $9.85+ (available in four sizes and 23 colors). Promising review: "Most useful travel accessory I have! It's easy to use, folds flat for easy transport, and great value for the money! I don't travel without it. I also get lots of compliments from flight attendants and passengers. It's so nice being able to have a drink on a flight without having to pull down the seat tray. As a frequent business traveler, I HIGHLY recommend." —M. O. We wouldn’t be without these." —Amazon Customer Get eight 10-packs from Amazon for $2.48 (also available in larger pack sizes). It can get a little warm at night, but it blocks out 100% of the light. I cannot sleep without it. I also travel with it, and it's a lifesaver on international flights." —Nate Spicer Get it from Amazon for $17.99+ (available in eight colors). Heads up that this may get flagged by TSA, so try to check it in your luggage if you're flying. Easy to install, and I definitely think it would be a secure deterrent if anything ever were to occur. I would absolutely bring this on any trip, solo or in a group." —Johana Get it from Amazon for $11.99 (also available in a two- or four-pack). Promising reviews: "Ever since I purchased my wireless Bose earbuds, I have always hated having to use another set when I am on an airplane with the seat-back entertainment system. I tried many different models to connect the system to my Bluetooth headsets until I came across this one, and it is amazing! It seamlessly connects to my headset, has very clear and reliable audio, and takes the stress away from having to carry several headsets! Thank you!!!" —Soccerboy "Never travel without it! Very easy to use." —Michael Ellis Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in three colors and a two-pack). Promising review: "This cushion is wonderful! I ordered two of these, one for me and one for my husband, before taking a long trip in our motorhome. I've been using mine almost daily for a month now, and it truly takes away my lower back pain while sitting on it. My main purpose was to use it while traveling, now I take it to any place that I'll be sitting on hard surfaces or for extended periods. Some said it didn't fit them properly or raised them up too high. I have no complaints, only praise! My husband likes his as well. Says it gives him more support and comfort while driving." —Pat F "I just spent nine hours on a flight using the seat cushion. Best thing ever.
