Critics of President Donald Trump’s administration are calling on U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign after a damning new article in The Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper reported that Guilfoyle leaned on Eric Deters, a Trump donor and former congressional candidate, to pay off a $100,000 debt ahead of her Senate confirmation hearings.

“Honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” she wrote via the Signal messaging app, according to the newspaper, and provided instructions on how he could send the money directly to American Express.

Deters, who had been seeking Guilfoyle’s help in getting the administration’s assistance on tax issues, declined.

“I can’t do this without getting a divorce,” he said, per the Journal.

In another exchange, Deters indicated he was unhappy with the results thus far.

“I have paid you $300,000 over the years,” Deters wrote to Guilfoyle, according to the Journal. “As of this memo, I have not received one favor. I am not naive or a sucker. I need results.”

Guilfoyle is a former Fox News host who was once Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée. She also delivered a memorably unhinged speech on the president’s behalf at the 2020 Republican National Convention.

According to the Journal, Guilfoyle also urged Deters to stop writing about such matters.

“Eric, I really wish you would stop papering all these things,” she wrote in one exchange. “It’s really dangerous and not helpful to you or me while you could simply just call me on signal.”

Deters complained to the newspaper: “She never came through on anything.”

Guilfoyle’s attorney told the Journal that she questioned the authenticity of the messages the newspaper had obtained.

But on social media, critics had seen enough:

hoooooly shit https://t.co/IRj2jefThm

Kimberly Guilfoyle must resign immediately. Actually, not surprised at all because the entire Trump inner circle is corrupt AF. https://t.co/7ugu1GmMi7

Hey look, more blatant corruption. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you. https://t.co/BYUmELLBCW

Nobody is working in this administration. They’re simply monetizing their administration role. All of them are so deeply corrupt and I can’t wait for the hearings. https://t.co/wcXcRd3ZOj

Exceptionally reporting on a truly gobsmacking story… https://t.co/BU80qB947O

This is the most comically corrupt thing i've read in a long time (and that's saying something for this era). How Guilfoyle could be allowed to remain in her post is impossible to imagine. Rubio is in Greece right now!https://t.co/9vCSC8j9D3

Every part of Trump’s administration is full of the most corrupt people, corrupting everything and everyone they come into contact with. It’s like a hydra-headed monster of corruption and malfeasance, radiating out from Washington DC. https://t.co/oRzWDRGydd

It’s the most corrupt Administration in American history. And we find more ways to prove it every single day. https://t.co/2obVLWrQU7

I'm not sure I've read a story over the past decade that better captures the grifter culture of TrumpWorld better than this one. Detail after amazing detail. Jaw-dropping, and yet none of it is really surprising. https://t.co/hdcjPbu5rx

Well.. yesterday it was Don Trump Jr, today it’s his ex-fiancé (now known as the US Ambassador to Greece.)Begging a MAGA donor for $100k off the books?! 😳This news comes days after WSJ exposed her inappropriate meetings w a lobbyist over gas deals.Yall had enough yet? 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/FXmRvHyF69

Great reporting. I mean that sincerely and in a normal world, this person's resignation would be demanded by day's end but we all know that won't happen. That Republicans confirmed her to an ambassadorial post in the first place is a joke but not too late to ditch her. https://t.co/WQshrBJb7g

The dam is breaking. Overt corruption, pay for play. And this will only get worse. This ain’t like fine wine. The problem with Rubio expressing support for her today is that he knew this was coming, and did so anyway. https://t.co/fHmgvexciv

I mean, who hasn’t found themselves in a jam right before a confirmation hearing and had to call a rich person and ask to secretly pay your six-figure AmEx bill? Have we no empathy? https://t.co/7hCuEf0yte

We do not coronate "successors" in politics and JD Vance needs to earn my vote like anyone else. And the best way for him to accomplish this is to wire me $100,000 to cover my Kalshi and DraftKings debts. Please. https://t.co/FxeehC226K

Kimberly: Send $100k, there will be no paper trail!Recipient: BRB sending the paper trail to the WSJ before my wife kills me. https://t.co/LaIhJslHyw
