The debate is over. Ben Affleck has finally revealed whether he wore a prosthetic in his full-frontal shower scene in 2014’s “Gone Girl.”

Twelve years after the Oscar-nominated film was released, the actor, 54, confessed to Variety in a new interview that he was really in the buff in the famous scene with his co-star Rosamund Pike, who played his wife, Amy Dunne, in the thriller film.

“I wore no prosthesis,” Affleck confirmed in the interview published Wednesday. “I’ve only worn one in one film, [2006’s] ‘Hollywoodland.’ It was a nose.”

In an interview a day before with Letterboxd, Affleck shared that he went bare because he fully trusted director David Fincher, quipping that he was willing to “do anything for him — like be naked.”

“Working with David was the great privilege of my life. He’s one of the absolute greatest filmmakers ever to live,” he added.

Speaking with MTV in 2014, Affleck recalled that Fincher told him he wanted “Gone Girl” to be a “warts and all movie.”

“Director David [Fincher] said to me from the beginning, ‘This is a warts and all movie. It can have no vanity. You have to see the naked underbelly of this character,’” he said at the time.

Affleck said Fincher compared the role to Europe, where they “don’t give a shit about any of that stuff, they just play real people.”

Affleck also joked about his nudity, telling MTV that there would be an “IMAX penis” in the film.

“You’ve gotta pay fifteen bucks to see it in 3-D. It looks better in 3-D. It was a very cold set. It was freezing. It was subzero.”

Affleck wasn’t the only one who teased his nude scene. His wife at the time, Jennifer Garner, also shared her thoughts on the scene on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in October 2014.

“What I have to say is, ‘You’re welcome,’” Garner joked then. “I just try to consider myself a charitable person and I wanted to give back. You give me so much, I wanted to give something back to all of you.”

Garner agreed with DeGeneres when the host suggested that Affleck stripping down on camera might boost the film’s ratings.

Affleck and Garner were married from 2005 to 2018 and share three children.

Affleck’s latest film, “Animals,” hits Netflix on Friday.
