Kim Kardashian is reflecting on being single for half a decade following her rocky split from her ex-husband Kanye West and her brief romance with Pete Davidson.

The reality TV star, 45, is currently dating British racing driver Lewis Hamilton.

“I was really single for five years,” Kardashian told the U.K.’s Sunday Times in a story published Oct. 3. “And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with.”

Kardashian said she felt “no rush” to jump back into the dating pool.

“Like, I really didn’t feel empty,” she continued. “I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favor when you just allow it to.”

Asked if she wanted to comment on her relationship with Hamilton, 41, she replied, “In the most respectful way, I’d probably rather not.”

Kardashian and Hamilton were friends for years before they became romantically linked earlier this year. The couple made their relationship Instagram-official in June.

The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” alum dated Davidson from October 2021 to August 2022, shortly after she filed for divorce from West, now known as Ye, in February 2021. Kardashian and Ye share four children together, and their divorce was finalized in November 2022.

Last week, Davidson told Variety that being bullied by Ye during his relationship with Kardashian eventually “cleared the path” for her to date again after they split.

Ye had publicly trolled Davidson repeatedly via violent music lyrics, social media posts and derogatory nicknames.

“I like to think I got that one out of the way for her because whoever that guy was going to be was gonna get it,” he said. “I cleared the path for her to get back into the dating pool.”

Ye suffered from documented mental health struggles, including a bipolar disorder diagnosis, during and leading up to his divorce from Kardashian.

Davidson compared the men who’ve survived a relationship with any of the Kardashian women to the Marines, but noted that he knew what he was “getting into” when he began dating Kardashian, who he called “super respectful.”

“Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game,” he explained. “One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do.’ I found that very attractive and mature.”
