I bet you didn’t think those boring bolt caps at the bottom of your toilet could actually be cute.

As a shopping editor with over a decade of experience working in journalism and digital media, I cover everything from beauty and fashion to home, travel, gaming, and pets, and I'm constantly saving interesting products on TikTok (in *very* organized folders, mind you) to share with BuzzFeed readers.

There are the parts of our home that we proudly show off to guests and post on Instagram, and then there are the parts that...well, we may not exactly want to shine a spotlight on. Whether it's a ripped-up side of the couch that your cat has clawed one too many times, a cluttered corner of the garage, or the tangle of cords behind your desk, every home has its areas that aren't exactly HGTV-worthy, and that's absolutely OK and normal. But if you're feeling the itch to zhuzh things up a bit, from the larger eyesores to the tiny messes, these products can help.

Promising review: "Absolutely love these. My daughter’s toilet was missing the original caps, so I thought I would give these a try. They are so nice looking!! She loves them. Great quality and fits perfectly over the screw. Going to buy some for my bathroom now! Buy it, you won’t regret it." —Valentine Girl

To apply, just unroll, position where you want it, sloooowly smooth it down with a credit card, and then trim the excess. Oh, and don't forget to wipe down the area you're covering first so it sticks.

Promising review: "I absolutely loved this contact paper. It completely transformed my countertop. It was super easy to apply, and if I messed up, it was extremely easy to redeem myself. I did this alone with no help, and I’m pretty proud of the outcome. Took me about 30 min to complete it. I used the whole roll of the smallest option, and it was enough for me. Super awesome, and I will be buying more of this contact paper soon when I transform another room in my home! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!" —Mariah

Get it from Amazon for $5.99+ (available in 12 sizes and three colors).

Promising review: "I love this in my bathroom window. I had to order three of the 17-inch-wide rolls and piece them together. I was worried that the seams would be noticeable or difficult to work with, but it was fine. I peeled the entire film off the backing and installed it. I'm in love. I've been staring at it all day. I installed it on a cloudy, dreary day, and it's still breathtaking. I know once the direct sunlight hits it, it'll be even more awesome." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $18.99+ (available in four sizes and four designs).

Promising review: "Nice, sturdy, cute little storage boxes that stack well. I used these boxes to organize my craft room cabinets and shelves." —Liz

Promising reviews: "Holds better than any rack I've had. Nothing falls off and the hooks are a welcome addition for holding the small items. This is my second one, as I liked the first one so well." —Jami Wallis

"Sturdy and strong. I tried other brands but they are not strong enough to hold brooms. This one really works. I wish there was more space between each holder, but otherwise I'm very satisfied." —eb

Get it from Amazon for $15.27 (available in four colors).

Promising review: "Included before and after photos. This is a huge improvement to spaces that house shovels and brooms and such. We considered a small closet-like storage in this space, but it would have cost seven times what this item cost. It isn't super solid — definitely doesn't quite roll full of tools because the legs would pop off if lifted — but it scoots fine, and holds all of this very well. It's easy to balance your tools, so there is no way they would fall over unless you put all the tools leaning in one direction, which would be silly. I did put electrical tape over the holes where the legs fit in (top and bottom) bc it is hollow, and I am not trying to provide a home for East Texas spiders. 😬" —Brooke

Promising review: "I recently used this toilet sealing tape to give my bathroom a cleaner, more polished look, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! The tape adheres perfectly to the base of the toilet, creating a seamless and professional finish. It’s durable, water-resistant, and keeps dirt and moisture from accumulating in hard-to-clean areas. Installation was simple and hassle-free, with no mess or fuss. The bright white color complements the flooring beautifully, enhancing the overall aesthetic of my bathroom. This tape is a game changer for anyone looking to add a neat and protective barrier around their toilet. Highly recommended!" —Hayden Scott

Promising review: "I've been searching for something to remove the weeds for a while and came across this amazing tool. Since I refuse to use chemicals in my yard, I've been left with scraped knuckles every time I attempt to remove weeds. The weeds have grown so tightly in the concrete cracks that I pretty much gave up; even weed-whacking it didn't help much. Yes, you do have to use a little bit of effort, but the end result was so worth it!" —Shelley Arakaki

Sleek Socket is a small biz focused on sleek power outlet solutions for the home!

Promising review: "I have a velvet lounge chair that sits up against the wall and covers an outlet. Every time we need to plug our phones, vacuum, laptops, or anything, I would have to move the chair to ensure the cord/plug doesn’t ruin the material. This outlet cover was a lifesaver! Lies perfectly flush up against the wall with the added benefit of a third available plug, and sits neatly under my lounge. Love this product!" —lisa ledoux

Get it from Amazon for $21.95+ (available in three lengths, with single or dual cords, and in a smart version).

Promising review: "Two weeks ago, I didn’t even know stone bath mats existed! But wow! What a game changer! I’m one of those people that avoid my cloth bath mat when it’s wet. Because eww! Now, I can take a shower right after my husband and not have to worry about stepping on a wet bath mat. The stone absorbs the water so fast! Can’t wait to upgrade my other bathroom mats." —Angela

It comes in an easy-to-use trigger spray and is ideal for cleaning bathtubs, showers, toilets, colorfast fabrics, vertical surfaces, and hard-to-reach spots. Plus, it's nonabrasive, and made with a nonhydrofluoric acid–based formula, which is safer than other similar liquid rust-stain removers.

Promising review: "Holy wizardry! Seriously it was more work to clean the mirror over the vanity than use this product. With almost no effort, this made my dark-orange, iron-water shower stall white again. I definitely suggest wearing a mask or bandana and running the ventilation fan if spraying in an enclosed area. Great product!" —Jessica B

Promising review: "Finally, my home office is clutter-free thanks to these white cord organizers! With three energetic youngsters constantly playing nearby, I really appreciate how these cable clips keep everything neat and tidy. The 3M adhesive on the back makes installation a breeze, and it's great that they can hold various cords and even my kids' toothbrushes." —Davina Shapiro

Promising review: "For anyone with cable clutter, this is a god-sent solution. You can even stick it if you're mounting it to a wall. The cord cover comes with a flexible hinge so you can add more wires after you adhere it to the wall.

Just a heads up the adhesive is very strong and may take paint off the wall when you remove it — some reviewers opted to use Command strips instead for this reason.

Promising review: "These look great and are super easy to apply. This is the perfect solution for hiding a cord! It looks like it is just a part of the baseboard. Mine is covering a cable wire only, but I think they are big enough to hide more than one cord if needed. I didn’t cut mine, and I bought two. You can tell where the two meet if you look closely. However, I do not think anyone would notice. I can’t believe I let our cable cord sit across the floor for this long. I wish I would have found these sooner!" —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in two sizes, four colors, and in multipacks).

Promising review: "Easy way to hide pool equipment. I was able to assemble this by myself but it took three of us to move it into place. I didn’t anchor it into the ground as I wasn’t sure where all the underground water lines were to my pool pump/filter. It’s withstood high winds from a recent monsoon storm so I feel confident it won’t blow over. Quality materials and makes looking out at the pool area more aesthetically pleasing. I highly recommend this product." —Kathy Burdick

Everneat is a Fairfield, Connecticut-based small business that makes natural cleaning products and tools.

Promising review: "When we leased our house, it very obviously had NEVER been cleaned by the previous tenants. The oven was a big problem and not up to my standards. I didn’t want to use a chemical or anything that would harm us or the pets, and this was PERFECT. Only took about an hour and a half to clean probably 10 years' worth of grime from the lil nasties who lived here before us!" —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $25.98 (available in two scents or unscented, and in a glass or plastic jar).

The tens of thousands of 5-star Amazon reviews are reason enough to add the ChomChom to your cart immediately — but let me add my own personal review to the stack. I've been using the ChomChom for quite a while now, and I took the photos above to show just how quick, easy, and effective this roller is. It took 10 seconds to rid my velvet couch ottoman (yes, velvet...a terrible cat owner choice, I know) of the hair my gray cat is constantly leaving everywhere. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of using this roller — at first, I thought you only brushed down in one direction, and was confused why it wasn't picking up hair. It's important to do a push-and-pull brushing in *both* directions so it actually pulls the hair inside, which does require you to apply a bit of pressure. Afterward, you'll just dump out the hair that's been trapped inside. The ChomChom is best for large flat surfaces like couches and beds.

Use gentle back-and-forth motions to remove stains and deposits from inside the toilet bowl, and voila!

Promising review: "I have very hard water that leaves hard water buildup and nasty stains. It’s embarrassing to have guests over because the toilets are so gross! I have tried so many products and cleaning solutions — from natural essential oils to harsh chemicals so strong I was lightheaded for the rest of the day. I had many failed experiments and one that was semi-successful. The before picture [above] of the toilet was after five sessions of an hour plus scrubbing with the semi-successful option (you can see where the ring is more faint to the left). Well, I tried out this pumice stone after reading about it in a BuzzFeed article, and honestly the hype is real! It does take some elbow grease, but the after picture is from only 20 minutes of scrubbing, light enough that I didn’t break a sweat! The stone does get used up, but I think this one should last me a couple of years at least. So if you have embarrassing toilets, try this!" —Stephanie Ray

Promising review: "I don't hate my old tile as much! My husband and I renovated our ground level to an entertaining area. The tile, on the other hand, was old and just would have cost way too much money to pull up. Needless to say, the area came out amazing. Now I don't hate the tile because the grout was so dirty and could not get it clean as much. I highly recommend this product. Now, when I walk downstairs, I don't cringe looking at the floor anymore. I will purchase another pen or two just to go over it later on. I'm not embarrassed by my floors anymore." —LUCYANN

Get it from Amazon for $8.99+ (available in two styles).

Promising review: "Living in Hawaii, you have to select wise items that are weather-, salt-, and red dirt-proof, etc. In total, I ordered 11 boxes to complete my yoga deck. I have a few leftovers to make steps on the back. Very pleased and happy. May order more for an outdoor shower project!" —Adelia

Get 10 sq. feet of tiles from Amazon for $77.48.

Promising review: "Cleaned discolored tile in front of the fireplace, which is used almost every night during the winter. House is 70-years-old. Followed the directions given on the product. Tile looks brand-new with very little effort!!" —kellyMReads

Get the kit that comes with a brush from Amazon for $21.99 (also available as a standalone bottle).

I put this to the test on a gross, mold-stained corner of my own tub — I've scrubbed and scrubbed that area previously and simply couldn't get the stains out until I used this stuff. As you can see above, I put on gloves (which is recommended on the packaging) and simply applied a thin strip to the area with black spots, then let it sit for six hours. After that point, all you do is rinse and check out the results! I didn't need to do a second application, but if you're dealing with some particularly tough stains, you can reapply as needed.

Promising review: "Wow! I would give this 10 stars if I could. We've had issues for a few years with the caulking behind the handle of our kitchen faucet turning black from mildew. We've scrubbed with what seems like a million different products with no luck. We were actually just talking about ripping out the caulking and doing a total replacement. But my husband saw this online the other day and decided to order it. Almost immediately, when he applied it, you could see it was starting to work. We left it on overnight, and the black is COMPLETELY GONE! It's incredible. It's 1,000% worth the (small) investment. Seriously — just buy this. It's amazing!!" —Nicole D.

One can covers 300–400 square feet on smooth surfaces and 200–300 square feet on rough surfaces. So you'll def have enough for this project.

Promising review: "I have used this on our concrete patio slabs with great results. One slab was under a metal shed, bare for 30 years! The other two had been painted with it a few years ago. I power-washed all three first and used a concrete bonding product on the bare slab, followed by a coat of Kilz primer. Then I rolled out a coat of this paint on all three. They all turned out amazing! The two slabs previously painted had weathered very well, so this topcoat made all three look great!" —D. Dawdy

Get a gallon from Amazon for $37.97+ (available in two colors).

Promising review: "I don't often write a review of a product. But this was so impressive, I thought I should let others know. We have a set of vinyl outdoor chairs that were constantly covered with mildew. When we were feeling ambitious, we'd take the time to power wash the chairs, which worked pretty well but was a lot of work. The problem was that a couple of days later, the mildew was back almost as bad a before. With this mildew stain remover, we sprayed the chairs, let them sit a few minutes, and hosed off with a regular garden hose. Easy. And they were cleaner than they ever got using the power washer. When we put the chairs away two months later, they were still clean." —Christine A. Simonson

Promising review: "Got this because TikTok made me do it. I put a smear on a hair dye stain in my shower from six months ago. Thought I’d have to let it sit for a while, so I rubbed it in with a Scrub Daddy and was ready to let it sit, but it was already gone. Blew my mind. Removed rust stains in the toilet and hard water marks from the tank instantly. Goodbye, other cleaners." —L. Seitz

Note: Furniture Clinic (the maker of this product) recommends testing to see if your leather is absorbent before using this product by seeing if a drop of water will soak into the undamaged part of the leather. If the water is able to soak in, use this balm! If it cannot soak in, they recommend using their leather repair paint instead.

Promising review: "The sofa in the pictures [above] is 10 years old and well used. My wife and I could not believe the results after using the balm. Really got rid of the cracks. Amazing stuff. Highly recommend it. The two pictures are before and after using the product on one arm of the sofa. Match the color, and it is magic!" —Loyal Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $24.95 (available in 16 colors and two kits).

Promising review: "The mesh of the tape is slightly smaller than the mesh of my windows, so it doesn't blend in. But it's better than a hole and cheaper than replacing the screen, and it still lets air through, so I am very happy." —Alara

Get it from Amazon for $8.79+ (available in two colors and three sizes).

And it works on sweaters and clothes, too, of course! This uses two AA batteries (not included).

Promising review: "TikTok made me buy this. I saw a furniture flipper say this is the only one of these that she uses due to the fact that it doesn’t put holes in the items she uses it on. Love it. 10/10. I’ve been using it on my couch, but will be using it on clothes in the future." —Sara

Therapy Clean is a family-owned small biz that sells cleaning products boasting cleaning products with safe and readable ingredient lists in the loveliest scents.

Promising review: "I’ve tried almost a dozen stainless steel products to try to clean our oven vent and nothing has worked as well and as effortlessly as this. I was hesitant because of the higher price point but a little goes a long way and it requires very little elbow grease to get the job done. My vent range hasn’t looked like this since we bought our home. There is no residue, a light scent, and most importantly a clean surface. Stainless steel is finicky but this takes away the complication." —Francisco

Get it from Amazon for $19.95 (also available in packs).

Promising review: "We bought our house two years ago. Prior to us, it had been used and abused as a rental house for about a decade. Our porcelain kitchen sink was just disgusting. My husband tried his best when we first moved in to get it to even resemble the original white, but the bottoms were just permanently stained a tan color. I gave up. Installing a new sink was added to the to-do list. I saw this product on a BuzzFeed article and bought it on a whim; it was cheap and I figured it couldn’t make the sink any worse. Holy crap! I’m absolutely blown away. I put a bit on the side with the disposal that was the most stained. I used a scrubbing brush drill bit on my power drill and went in a quick circle around the basin. 10 seconds tops. Boom. The sink was white. Not just white. The brilliant, bright original white it was supposed to be. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I went to town on both sides excessively for probably 10 minutes total, and my ugly sink looks shiny and white again. No more new sink for us. I couldn’t be more impressed." —Danielle

Get it from Amazon for $9.95 (available in different sizes and packs).

Promising review: "Does exactly what it says. Rather than getting spackle, waiting for it to dry, sanding it down, and tweaking as needed — this cuts the time/effort down! Just rub over the place in need of patching and wipe off the excess. The hardest part is not accidentally getting the product on parts of the wall that don’t need it, but that’s easy to clean up, so it’s not a problem. I used this to patch holes in the wall from a former Wi-Fi router and modem, other than the color difference from the patch to the paint, you’d never know it was patched. Great price, easy to use." —Amanda

Promising review: "The only thing I don’t like is that kids think they are real and walk up and try to hang on the handles, which obviously just come right off. I have to admit it’s hysterical, it does teach the kids to quit messing around with things they shouldn’t because they think they break them... it’s downright comical. Other than that, you would never know they are magnetic. They stay on, you can pull them off easily to wash the doors and then just put right back on. Heavy rains and they didn’t come off. It’s -20 degrees outside now, and they're still stuck on with no problems. I got three sets — one double door and one single door, looks perfect." —Rummy3

Get the six-piece set from Amazon for $19.99 (available in three sets; faux windows also available if you want to replicate the look above).

Promising review: "This is the greatest cleaning tool invented! I love it! I had tried every tip to get rid of the hard-water buildup around my sinks and this little gizmo gets rid of it in a breeze. Everyone should have one. So simple and so brilliant." —Debra J.
