Because those ugly brass cabinet door handles are making your cookspace look super ’90s...in the bad way.

As a Deputy Editorial Director for BuzzFeed’s shopping team, I love to get into the weeds of why a product’s worth the money by deep diving into customer reviews, and product-testing as much as possible.

Loving how your home looks and functions is easier when you have a sky-high budget. And if you're doing renovations, you can pour TONS of money into your kitchen between appliances, countertops, cabinets, and surfaces, because it can really add up quickly! But that's not what this story is about. Instead, we're focusing on little upgrades you can make for your cookspace while on a budget. Maybe your adorable but rambunctious dogs have scratched up your lower cabinets. Or under your kitchen sink is something out of a Goosebumps book behind all the bottles of cleaner. Well, I've found solutions for those problems and so much more to get your kitchen into a shape where you can use it to its full potential and perhaps even enjoy cooking in there?

Just make sure that you take off one of your current pulls and measure it so you're ordering the correct size before adding to cart!

Promising review: "Very cute. The pack had everything I needed, so it was very easy to put on the cabinets. The handles also have plenty of space to put your hand in without getting stuck! Highly recommend!" —Alyssa

Promising review: "I have polished nickel knobs on my kitchen cabinets. Over the years, they have gone from shiny to cloudy. They never look clean. I have tried various suggestions to get them back to looking new: lemon juice, white vinegar, Bar Keepers Friend, cleaning paste...nothing worked. I decided to try this metal polish. Finally! They are back to their original shine. I used a cotton cleaning rag (old T-shirt) and a pea-size amount of polish per knob. The white cleaning rag turned black as I rubbed off the polish from the knob. I don't know if it's required, but I wore rubber gloves. I have included photos. One knob is cleaned, one is not. I am very happy with this product." —Victoria D

Promising review: "Completely transformed my kitchen. Looks so chic with the colors. High quality and durable. If you’re putting it directly on wood, it will leave stickiness, so if you’re renting, you might wanna put lining underneath it." —baiyinadotcom

Promising review: "I had one of these tablecloths in a wood grain and was looking for a checked pattern, but in burgundy instead of a true red. I finally found the right color and am very happy with it! Something as little as a tablecloth can really brighten up a very dated kitchen. Easy to wipe down, it was very easy to put on, and it stays in place because of the elastic around the edges. Well made and recommended." —Ellen M. Dubois

Promising review: "I have a tiny little galley kitchen, and all of my spices were jammed into one crowded shelf of a top cabinet. Whenever I needed to pull something out, it required a lengthy round of hide and seek, and it was generally a safe bet that several random jars were going to land on the counter, sometimes resulting in a shower of broken glass sprinkled all over whatever I was preparing. It was worth every penny. I installed it easily in just a few minutes, and it solved my problem and is a joy to use. It's sturdy as heck and extremely well made. I'm looking around for where else I can use one of their drawers, but sadly nothing else seems to lend itself to this simple, elegant solution." —LMc

YouCopia is a small biz specializing in home goods.

Promising review: "This is one of my favorite things I've ever purchased from Amazon! The fact that they're so customizable allows you to cut them and shape them to any drawer size! I think this will be my go-to gift for all of my friends who love cooking as much as I do! Freeing up cabinet space and having something that can so easily be rinsed off in the sink makes this a for sure buy!" —momonono

Get a 10-foot roll from Amazon for $15.99.

Promising review: "Over two years later — still looking great! I applied the paper to my Formica kitchen countertops. Since then, the paper has not peeled or stained — it looks like when I applied it. Honestly, I'm shocked. I thought the edges would pop up at some point, but nope, everything has stayed stuck. These counters are pretty high traffic since my kitchen is tiny. To keep the paper nice, I just make sure of a few obvious things: 1) I don't put anything hot directly on it; 2) I wipe it regularly; 3) I keep sharp things away (don't cut stuff on it, duh). The last point I was actually a bit lax on, so I have some superficial scuffs where I dragged a coffeemaker back and forth every day for like a year before I realized I was scratching the paper.

The bottom line is, the paper was only meant to be a temporary glow-up until I remodeled my kitchen, but it's held up so well, I'm fine with keeping it and continuing to save money!" —Juliet

Get it from Amazon for $19+ (available in five roll sizes).

Like I said up there, I have one of these in my spice cabinet and use it for my most-used seasoning. Being able to quickly grab garlic powder while I'm cooking something on the stove is incredibly helpful. The nonskid liner really keeps stuff in place, so spices don't go flying when spinning. I feel like I get a lot more use out of that spice shelf (and the seasonings on it) than I would otherwise.

Promising review: "I love these! I have a tiny kitchen in my apartment and only have one and a half upper cabinets, and two lower cabinets. So space is very limited. I bought these hoping they’d give me some extra storage space, and they did not disappoint. The magnet is super strong, they’re not going anywhere. They seem to hold a lot of weight. I feel like I have a decent amount of spices, and they hold them all. They also come with hooks, which is nice, but I haven’t put them to use yet." —Jasmine Borden

Get a two-pack from Amazon for $21.99 (available in eight colors and in larger packs).

This comes in a pack of four with two pockets each so everyone can get one! And because they're clear, you'll be able to see what's inside so you can actually use it.

Promising review: "I used the product to clear up space that was used for condiment packets, but they also worked out great to hold my mom’s insulin pens so they don’t get lost in the fridge." —GuVal

The kit includes a 10-ounce bottle of Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaner, one cleaning pad, and one scraper to make it a quick and easy job.

Promising review: "I tried EVERYTHING for two years to get the ring of baked-on grime off of our stovetop. Nothing worked. I figured I’d give this product a go since the kit was just $10. IT’S AMAZING. A little scrape with the razor and a few scrubs with the cleaner and pad. BOOM! Nasty rings around the burners are GONE!" —OperaDiva

Get it from Amazon for $17.28+ (available in three styles).

Psst, as you can see above, this set also comes with a crumb catcher where your stovetop meets your countertop!

Promising review: "I've been using the foil ones, and while they do the job, they're not so nice to look at. I like that this is black, so it matches the original color of the appliances, but more importantly, I like that this has a larger surface area to catch the drips that the foil ones never could before. They're also trim to fit, so they get right up into each burner without leaving gaps where drips can burn, making it harder to clean. Time will tell if they're as durable/reusable as they claim. If they are, then I'll try to trim two of the spares to fit the center large burner. Overall recommended." —Michael

StoveShelf is a small business, and these shelves are built to last a lifetime.

Promising review: "I have tried numerous products on my wood kitchen cabinets, and nothing has worked. You can see from the photos that they were in really bad shape. I applied this product and let it sit for 45 minutes before I wiped the cabinets down. I can’t believe how well it worked! If this didn’t work, I figured I would have to refinish or paint the cabinets because they looked so bad. I’m so glad I tried it! It has saved me a lot of time and money!" —nicole feather

Promising review: "I can't believe how well Old English works! I recently purchased a home where a dog previously lived and had horribly scratched the woodwork. I thought I may have to sand and refinish the woodwork around two doors. Old English saved me a lot of work! " —Behold Behold!

Promising review: "I ordered these just to determine if we really needed under cabinet lighting. I really wasn't expecting much because of the price. It is very easy to install, with five levels of brightness with the included remote control, timers for on and off, and a manual on/off switch in the connecting wiring if you don't use the remote. Standard CR2025 button battery for the remote. I really don't know how they can be sold for the price I paid. Also received in two days. The photo was taken in a very dark kitchen. Updated: I ordered two more packages to finish the lighting required. The electrical plug is much better since it does not stick out from the wall so far. Very pleased with these units." —Anthony E Spearman

Get three 12-inch lights from Amazon for $13.49 (available in four colors and in sets of six).

Promising review: "I have a weird skinny window in my house where no normal window covering works. People walking on our community trail can see up into our upstairs bathroom when the light is on and it's dark outside. Not a good plan at all. So I used this window film and cut different-sized circles and placed then on this window to interrupt the view into the house. Worked perfectly! Very easy to use." —Marsgard

I am able to store many extras and keep them near me as I sew." —Mary

Useful Products is a US-based small business established in 2007 by car wash owner, electrician, and former bodybuilder Anthony LaPolla that specializes in drill-cleaning brushes and attachments.

Each of the different brush colors indicates which tasks the brushes are meant for based on their bristle type, so be sure to check which one is best suited for whatever you need to for! Yellow is the “all-purpose” medium bristle, but some are softer and harder depending on what types of surfaces you’re cleaning (but none of them will scratch!).

Promising review: "I manage many apartment properties and finding people to do the cleaning has been tricky business, so I end up having to get in and clean these horrendous filth pods tenants lived in and left me to deal with when they move out. The ovens and stove tops are usually the worst, and I absolutely hate cleaning. I came across this drill attachment set, and let me tell you, it helped me tremendously! I still had to get in with a putty knife on some of them but it really cut down my elbow-grease time." —alicia haats

Get it from Amazon for $24.99 (available in seven colors and stiffness levels).

Promising review: "We moved into our house a year ago and I’ve been on a quest to clean the grout next to the stove ever since then. As a last resort I got this and holy cow! I left it on for three minutes as a spot test at first and I could already see a huge difference. I then did two more rounds letting it sit for five minutes each. The scent's not bad, it was fine if I had the window open, it was just being down close to it that got me. Seriously, stop looking and buy this." —Britney Phillips

Promising review: "I installed an expensive soft white tile (if there is such a thing) floor in the kitchen when I bought my house. At the time, it was a new product and it was beautiful — that fuzzy, warm feeling changed the first time I dropped a fork. I have been so frustrated no wanting to rip up and put down replacement tiles. The grout pen made it look new again, I am thrilled with the results!" —K. Robles

Get it from Amazon for $17.15+ (available in two sizes).

Can withstand temperatures of -40 degrees F up to 446 degrees F/230 degrees C. Includes 24 tools and holder.

Promising review: "I love everything matching. Finally got rid of all my mix-match stuff! However, they are SO many items it was too much to fit in my drawer so I put the things I use the most in the drawer and kept the rest in the holder and store them with my pots and pans. The holder is plastic and cheap so this would not be something I’d leave on the counter.

The are super sturdy and sharp looking. AND, they didn’t get dirty, black or burnt when scraping up charred food in a frying pan. Cleaned right off of the spatula. Very pleased." —Bonnie Pfiester

Promising review: "It's not that I'm a disorganized person, but I knew I could do better under the sinks. I mean, SO MUCH wasted space under there, right? So, I found this little beauty. It was SUPER fast and easy to put together. These shelves are sturdy enough for anything you put on them (mostly heavyish liquid-y stuff, right?), and look to be easy to move for cleaning AND easy to clean. I just love them, and you will, too!" —Everyday K

Promising review: "So I saw this tiny trash can on TikTok, and I was moving into a tiny studio apartment and thought this would be perfect. Turns out it's one of the best things I've ever bought. I installed mine with the over-the-cabinet hooks (also comes with adhesive stickers) on my kitchen island, and it is so convenient I can't even express with words. The lid is on this nifty hinge so you can open it by flipping the lid up, or by sliding it forward and it folds down out of the way. I usually keep it open while I'm cooking but I can close it super quickly if I see the dog coming. There is a little pull tab for easy opening. It is so easy to use and easy to clean. It's also so cute! I use my plastic grocery bags as trash can liners for this and they fit perfectly. It comes with a roll of bags as well. The lid lifts off easily to change bags out. Clicks back on easily over the new liner. Can't recommend this enough!! This is going on my list of 'best things I've ever spent my money on.'" —Ginger

I live in New York City, where, like many places, you can no longer get plastic bags at a store, and there's a fee for any other kind of bag you'd get at the store. But the thing is, those plastic grocery bags make the perfect bin liners for my small trash can, and I cook at home almost every day, so I'm constantly taking out a bag of trash. So I'm constantly going through these small-scale bags, even make my mom save hers for me, and resigned to just storing them all within one big one in a ball underneath my kitchen sink after lackluster experiences with the IKEA bag dispenser, and this popular wall-mounted dispenser. But I think I may have found my product match with this beaut. As you can see, here's the mass of bags I had scurried away without a holder (Lysol can for scale), and I was able to fit 46 of them inside this holder. The product listing promises it'll hold up to 40. But I was determined and was able to fit all but three of my saved bags in there! It's super sturdy and stands up just fine in my cabinet when I reach in to pull out a bag. And it's pretty slim so I didn't have to shuffle around my cleaning products as much as I assumed I would.

Elypro is a small business in New York City making clever organization products for the home.

Promising review: "I use these to organize my coffee mugs and my glasses in smaller cabinets. They not only look nicer, they save space without tilting when you try to stack mugs without support. I also use these to stack ramekins and that is also better now. These are adjustable to fit different sizes. I highly recommend these organizers!" —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "This was a pretty easy installation considering the work is on the ceiling. I've been wanting to change out the two can lights over my sink for years, so I started investigating the easiest possible way to do so. Ran across this item, and watched the video on YouTube. What the heck, I thought! Rewatched the video before installation, looked at the directions on both the converter kit and the pendant light, gathered the necessary tools described in all instructions, and set upon my mission. The hardest part (for me) was getting the self-tapping screws started. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, I must say! By the way, I'm a 55-year-old woman who has worked at a bank all of my life. Yes! It was that easy. I would highly recommend it." —Trisch Reeve

Promising review: "Repeat customer! macraYAYmacrame is an Indianapolis, Indiana-based shop that makes a variety of cool macrame accessories.

My colleague Jenae Sitzes owns and loves this:

"I recently picked up this macrame basket (in the Cactus shade) and *highly* recommend it if you're looking to add a cozy touch to your kitchen. As someone with a relatively small NYC kitchen, I need every bit of counter space I can get, and this lets me keep produce out without having to take up space with a fruit basket or banana stand. I'm a big fan of utilizing vertical space as storage, and this does just that; plus, it allows for ventilation to help your fruit stay fresh for longer. I'm constantly cooking with onions or grabbing an apple as a mid-day snack, and having them right there at an arm's reach is sooo nice. BTW, these come with hooks that screw directly into a cabinet, but if you (like me) want to avoid that damage, I recommend using Command hooks — I'm using four of these small toggle hooks and they've held up the basket *with* produce in it wonderfully."

Get it from macraYAYmacrame on Etsy for $33.

Kit includes low-VOC, low-odor, water-based acrylic paint and primer in one. Requires a one-day application process that dries in a soft, satin finish. Covers 100 square feet of cabinet surface (40 linear feet), which is typical of most kitchen cabinets. Ideal for use on wood, laminate and primed, or painted metal cabinets. Formulated to cover most existing wood finishes and paint in a single coat.

Promising review: "You can see a before and after in my pictures but this paint was AMAZING and a huge transformation to my outdated kitchen.

- I started off by completely cleaning the wooden cabinets with KRUD KUTTER PC32 Prepaint Cleaner/TSP Substitute. I read a lot of reviews on this cleaner and heard that is was great for cleaning off oils and dirt, and it really did wonders.

- I then primed the cabinets with a special wood primer.

- Once the primer dried, I used the Nuvo paint on the cabinets. I did four very thin layers of paint. It is vital that you keep each layer very thin because it will dry weird. I found that in the corner of the cabinets where paint puddled even a little bit that it would cracker so make sure that you keep thin layers

- Additionally, I ended up purchasing regular brushes outside of this kit. A few blogs said that they used the foam brushes; however, I did not like how the paint laid on the cabinets with them." —Danielle Joy
