Sophia Bush has unveiled a memoir ― and with it, a surprising revelation about her love life.

The “One Tree Hill” actor confirms in her book, “And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress,” that she and former U.S. soccer player Ashlyn Harris were married in the summer of last year.

Bush and Harris shared more details of their wedding, which took place in upstate New York, in an interview that accompanied an excerpt of the book published by Vogue Wednesday. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony attended only by Harris’ daughter Sloane, now 5, and son Ocean, 4.

“When you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack what’s yours and what’s always sort of been for everyone else,” Bush told the outlet. Gesturing to Harris, she added: “You’ve been playing in stadiums in front of 60,000 people since you were 15 or 16, and I started playing a character for tens of millions of people when I was 21. It’s such a privilege to be able to perform as an athlete or an actor, but it also comes with certain costs.”

Harris echoed those sentiments. “It was so fun for [my children], because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids,” she said. “It was so precious, and zero pressure. I will never forget it, and I think wedding days sometimes aren’t like that.”

The pair also said they were able to make up for their tiny guest list by traveling across the U.S. to share the news of their marriage with loved ones.

Bush, whose recent credits include “Love, Victor” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” dated her “One Tree Hill” co-star Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006. She was previously married to businessman Grant Hughes 2022 to 2023.

Harris shares her two children with Ali Krieger, who is also a retired U.S. soccer player. She and Krieger split in 2023 after nearly four years of marriage.

In 2024, Bush published an lengthy essay in Glamour in which she publicly identified as queer while confirming that she and Harris were in a relationship.

“I sort of hate the notion of having to come out in 2024. But I’m deeply aware that we are having this conversation in a year when we’re seeing the most aggressive attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community in modern history,” she wrote at the time. “There were more than 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills proposed in state legislatures in 2023, so for that reason I want to give the act of coming out the respect and honor it deserves.”

As for Harris, Bush said she was “absolutely in awe of her relentless integrity.”

“The way she prioritizes and centers her kids, not only in her life but in the core of her being, is breathtaking to behold,” she wrote. “Falling in love with her has sutured some of my own childhood wounds, and made me so much closer to my own mother.”

These days, Bush is preparing for the Oct. 27 release of “And I Will Tell You Mine.” She told People a book agent had been encouraging her to write a memoir for about nine years, but that the timing to do so hadn’t felt right until now.

“I think when your life finally feels like all the pieces are in the right place, you start to realize why people might want you to share your story,” she said.
