Sen. Mark Kelly Has Brutal Suggestion For A New Trump Ballroom Name

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) turned the tables on President Donald Trump and his fondness for renaming things while talking to TMZ on Capitol Hill on Tuesday. While discussing the president’s recent meeting with executives from the nation’s top artificial intelligence companies, Kelly noted how the discussions included Trump’s desire to rebrand the technology as “super intelligence.” “He really likes naming things,” the senator remarked, bringing up how Trump said Lake Ontario was being rechristened to “Lake America” late last month amid a bubbling trade war with Canada, as well as how he announced the Gulf of Mexico would now be referred to as the “Gulf of America” at the beginning of his second term in office. “I don’t know what’s next,” Kelly sighed, before offering a suggestion for Trump’s next naming project. “I got one though. You know that new ballroom he’s trying to build?” the retired astronaut asked. “Felony Hall.” Sen. Mark Kelly says, like Donald Trump, he doesn’t mind renaming things—and suggests to @hicharliecotton that the president rename his ballroom “Felony Hall.” 😳 pic.twitter.com/gJu5QTvc97 Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts back in 2024 in a case stemming from a hush money scheme involving his alleged affair with adult film performer Stormy Daniels. The president managed to avoid any jail time, fines or probation when New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan sentenced him to unconditional discharge in January 2025. Kelly’s cheeky suggestion comes as the president is locked in a battle over his failed bid to tack his name onto the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The future of the Washington, D.C., institution is currently in limbo after the center’s board voted to shut down the building amid financial issues and Trump’s threat to halt renovations if he did not get his way. This came following multiple court decisions shooting down his renaming efforts, attempts which District Court Judge Christopher R. Cooper slammed as Trump and his allies trying to “play word games” with the storied performing arts center earlier this month.
